Journal ArticleDOI

Optical and electronic interaction at metal–organic and organic–organic interfaces of ultra-thin layers of PTCDA and SnPc on noble metal surfaces

TL;DR: In this article, the interaction mechanisms at metal-organic and organic-organic interfaces in highly-ordered ultra-thin layers of the dye molecules 3,4,9,10-perylene-tetracarboxylic-dianhydride (PTCDA) and tin(II)-phthalocyanine (SnPc) on single crystalline noble metals were investigated by means of in situ differential reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), followed by an extraction of the optical functions by application of a numerical algorithm.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preparation and crystallographic characterization of crystalline modifications of 3,4:9,10‐perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride at room temperature

TL;DR: In this article, a 3,4:9,10-Perylenetetetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTCDA) powder obtained from Sigma-Aldrich was purified by three cycles of temperature gradient sublimation in an evacuated quartz glass tube providing variable conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dissociation of excitons in organic dye layers of perylene derivatives

TL;DR: In this article, the dissociation processes of excited states in vapor-deposited thin films of N,N′-dimethylperylene-3,4,9,10-dicarboximide (Me-PTCDI) and 3, 4, 9, 10-perylenetetetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTCDA) are investigated in detail by means of electric field induced fluorescence quenching and photoresponse.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Complex Polymorphism and Thermodynamic Behavior of a Seemingly Simple System: Naphthalene on Cu(111)

TL;DR: Experimental evidence is presented for a phase transition from a two-dimensional gas to a highly ordered molecular solid via an intermediate metastable phase with moderate order which undergoes a reversible orientational shift upon temperature variation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optical absorption spectra of ultrathin PTCDA films on gold single crystals: Charge transfer beyond the first monolayer

TL;DR: In this article, the optical absorbance behavior of ultrathin 3,4,9,10-perylenetetetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTCDA) films epitaxially grown on Au(1,1/1) and Au(0,0/0) was investigated.
