Journal ArticleDOI
Angiotensin Type 1 Receptor Blockers Induce Peroxisome Proliferator–Activated Receptor-γ Activity
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that a specific subset of ARBs induces PPARγ activity, thereby promoting PPARαγ-dependent differentiation in adipocytes, providing a potential mechanism for their insulin-sensitizing/antidiabetic effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Angiotensin II type 1-receptor activating antibodies in renal-allograft rejection.
Duska Dragun,Dominik N. Müller,Jan Hinrich Bräsen,Lutz Fritsche,Melina Nieminen-Kelhä,Ralf Dechend,Ulrich Kintscher,Birgit Rudolph,Johan Hoebeke,Diana Eckert,Istvan Mazak,Ralph Plehm,Constanze Schönemann,Thomas Unger,Klemens Budde,Hans-Hellmut Neumayer,Friedrich C. Luft,Gerd Wallukat +17 more
TL;DR: A non-HLA, AT1-receptor-mediated pathway may contribute to refractory vascular rejection, and affected patients might benefit from removal of At1- receptor antibodies or from pharmacologic blockade of AT1 receptors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gender in cardiovascular diseases: impact on clinical manifestations, management, and outcomes
Vera Regitz-Zagrosek,Sabine Oertelt-Prigione,Eva Prescott,Flavia Franconi,Eva Gerdts,Anna Foryst-Ludwig,Angela H.E.M. Maas,Alexandra Kautzky-Willer,Dorit Knappe-Wegner,Ulrich Kintscher,Karl-Heinz Ladwig,Karin Schenck-Gustafsson,Verena Stangl +12 more
TL;DR: The term S&G is used for all medical relevant differences between women and men in the present review to include the inclusion of the gender dimension into biomedical research since ‘it helps improve the scientific quality …’.
Journal ArticleDOI
Troglitazone Inhibits Formation of Early Atherosclerotic Lesions in Diabetic and Nondiabetic Low Density Lipoprotein Receptor–Deficient Mice
Alan R. Collins,Woerner P. Meehan,Ulrich Kintscher,Simon K. Jackson,Shu Wakino,Grace Noh,Wulf Palinski,Willa A. Hsueh,Ronald E. Law +8 more
TL;DR: Observations suggest that the inhibition of early atherosclerotic lesion formation by troglitazone may result, at least in part, from direct effects of PPAR&ggr; activation in the artery wall.
