Journal ArticleDOI

The SCORPIO universal focal reducer of the 6-m telescope

TL;DR: The SCORPIO focal reducer as discussed by the authors has been used since the fall of 2000 for observations on the 6-m Special Astrophysical Observatory telescope for direct imaging, long-slit and multislit spectroscopy, spectropolarimetry, and Fabry-Perot panoramic spectrograms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Kinematics and stellar populations of the dwarf elliptical galaxy IC 3653

TL;DR: In this article, the first 3D observations of a diffuse elliptical galaxy (dE) were presented, where the good quality data (S/N up to 40) reveal the kinematical signature of an embedded stellar disc, reminiscent of what is commonly observed in elliptical galaxies.
Journal ArticleDOI

The extraordinarily bright optical afterglow of GRB 991208 and its host galaxy

A. J. Castro-Tirado, +55 more
TL;DR: The optical afterglow of the intense gamma-ray burst GRB 991208 was observed for 2.1 days after the event and continued until 4 Apr 2000.
Journal ArticleDOI

Host galaxies of gamma-ray bursts: Spectral energy distributions and internal extinction

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented broad-band flux spectra for the host galaxies of GRB 970508, GRB 980613 and GRB 991208 obtained with the 6m telescope of SAO RAS and derived the absolute magnitudes of the GRB host galaxies making use of SEDs for the starburst galaxies.
