Journal ArticleDOI
Femtosecond x-ray pulse length characterization at the Linac Coherent Light Source free-electron laser
S. Düsterer,P. Radcliffe,Christoph Bostedt,John D. Bozek,A. L. Cavalieri,R. Coffee,John Costello,Denis Cubaynes,Louis F. DiMauro,Yuantao Ding,Gilles Doumy,Gilles Doumy,Florian Grüner,Wolfram Helml,Wolfgang Schweinberger,Reinhard Kienberger,Andreas Maier,Marc Messerschmidt,V. Richardson,C. Roedig,Thomas Tschentscher,Michael Meyer,Michael Meyer +22 more
TL;DR: In this article, an x-ray-optical cross-correlation technique was proposed to determine the duration of femtosecond (>40?fs) x-rays from the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS).
Journal ArticleDOI
Polarization control in two-color above-threshold ionization of atomic helium.
Michael Meyer,D. Cubaynes,D. Glijer,J. Dardis,Patrick Hayden,P. Hough,V. Richardson,Eugene T. Kennedy,John Costello,P. Radcliffe,Stefan Düsterer,A. Azima,Wei Li,Harald Redlin,J. Feldhaus,Richard Taïeb,Alfred Maquet,Alexei N. Grum-Grzhimailo,Elena V. Gryzlova,S. I. Strakhova +19 more
TL;DR: Two-color multiphoton ionization of atomic helium was investigated by combining extreme ultraviolet (XUV) radiation from the Free Electron Laser in Hamburg with an intense synchronized optical laser to gain insight into the symmetry of the outgoing electrons in above-threshold ionization.
Journal ArticleDOI
Time-resolved pump-probe experiments beyond the jitter limitations at FLASH
A. Azima,Stefan Düsterer,P. Radcliffe,Harald Redlin,Nikola Stojanovic,Wei Li,Holger Schlarb,J. Feldhaus,D. Cubaynes,Michael Meyer,J. Dardis,Patrick Hayden,P. Hough,V. Richardson,Eugene T. Kennedy,John Costello +15 more
TL;DR: Using a noninvasive, electro-optically based electron bunch arrival time measurement at FLASH (free electron laser in Hamburg) the temporal resolution of two-color pump-probe experiments has been significantly improved as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Atomic photoionization in combined intense XUV free-electron and infrared laser fields
P. Radcliffe,Mathias Arbeiter,W B Li,S. Düsterer,Harald Redlin,Patrick Hayden,P. Hough,V. Richardson,John Costello,Thomas Fennel,Michael Meyer +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the photoionization of noble gas atoms exposed to extreme ultraviolet (XUV) radiation from the Free-electron Laser in Hamburg (FLASH) and to intense synchronized near-infrared (NIR) laser pulses with intensities up to about 1013 W cm−2 was studied.
Journal ArticleDOI
Two-photon inner-shell ionization in the extreme ultraviolet.
V. Richardson,John Costello,D. Cubaynes,S. Düsterer,Josef Feldhaus,H. W. van der Hart,Pavle Juranić,Wei B. Li,M. Meyer,Mathias Richter,A. A. Sorokin,K. Tiedke +11 more
TL;DR: Photoelectron spectroscopy permitted us to unambiguously identify a feature resulting from the ionization of a single electron of the 4d subshell of Xe by two photons each of energy (93±1) eV, which has a quadratic dependence on the pulse energy.
