Journal ArticleDOI
Applications of liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry for food analysis.
Vita Di Stefano,Giuseppe Avellone,David Bongiorno,Vincenzo Cunsolo,Vera Muccilli,Stefano Sforza,Arnaldo Dossena,László Drahos,Károly Vékey +8 more
TL;DR: The characterization of food quality (including problems of authentication and adulteration) is discussed, together with a future outlook on future directions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Proteome analysis of Citrus sinensis L. (Osbeck) flesh at ripening time
Vera Muccilli,Concetta Licciardello,Debora Fontanini,Maria Patrizia Russo,Vincenzo Cunsolo,Rosaria Saletti,Giuseppe Reforgiato Recupero,Salvatore Foti +7 more
TL;DR: The potential role of protein differential expression between Moro and Cadenera fruits was discussed, and proteomic results were compared with the known variations of transcripts of the same fruits, confirming the necessity to associate both proteomic and transcriptomic approaches in order to achieve a more complete characterization of the biological system.
Book ChapterDOI
Echinodermata: The Complex Immune System in Echinoderms
L. Courtney Smith,Vincenzo Arizza,Megan A. Barela Hudgell,Gianpaolo Barone,Andrea G. Bodnar,Katherine M. Buckley,Vincenzo Cunsolo,Nolwenn M. Dheilly,Nicola Franchi,Sebastian D. Fugmann,Ryohei Furukawa,José E. García-Arrarás,John H. Henson,Taku Hibino,Zoe H. Irons,Chun Li,Cheng Man Lun,Audrey J. Majeske,Matan Oren,Patrizia Pagliara,Annalisa Pinsino,David A. Raftos,Jonathan P. Rast,Bakary Samasa,Domenico Schillaci,Catherine S. Schrankel,Loredana Stabili,Klara Stensvåg,Elisse Sutton +28 more
TL;DR: The echinoderm immune system has been characterized as unexpectedly complex, robust, and flexible, and many echinoderms have very long life-spans that correlate with an excellent capacity for cell damage repair, and therefore are species that can serve as optimal sentinels of environmental health.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immune mediators of sea-cucumber Holothuria tubulosa (Echinodermata) as source of novel antimicrobial and anti-staphylococcal biofilm agents.
Domenico Schillaci,Maria Grazia Cusimano,Vincenzo Cunsolo,Rosaria Saletti,Debora Russo,Mirella Vazzana,Maria Vitale,Vincenzo Arizza +7 more
TL;DR: The immune mediators in H. tubulosa are a source of novel antimicrobial peptides for the development of new agents against biofilm bacterial communities that are often intrinsically resistant to conventional antibiotics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular and functional characterization of VDAC2 purified from mammal spermatozoa.
Viviana A. Menzel,M. Carolina Cassará,Roland Benz,Vito De Pinto,Angela Messina,Vincenzo Cunsolo,Rosaria Saletti,Klaus Dieter Hinsch,Elvira Hinsch +8 more
TL;DR: This first work to report the purification and characterization of VDAC2 from a mammalian tissue using as starting material bovine spermatozoa with major contaminations of the other isoforms is reported.
