Journal ArticleDOI
Shear flow and Kelvin-Helmholtz instability in superfluids.
Rob Blaauwgeers,Vladimir Eltsov,Georg Eska,Georg Eska,Antti Finne,Richard P. Haley,Richard P. Haley,Matti Krusius,J. J. Ruohio,Ladislav Skrbek,Ladislav Skrbek,Grigory Volovik,Grigory Volovik +12 more
TL;DR: The first realization of instabilities in the shear flow between two superfluids is examined and the measured properties of the instability are consistent with the classic Kelvin-Helmholtz theory when modified for two-fluid hydrodynamics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Observation of Half-Quantum Vortices in Topological Superfluid ^{3}He.
S. Autti,Vladimir V. Dmitriev,J. T. Mäkinen,A. A. Soldatov,Grigory Volovik,Grigory Volovik,A. N. Yudin,V. V. Zavjalov,Vladimir Eltsov +8 more
TL;DR: An observation of half-quantum vortices (HQVs) in the polar phase of superfluid ^{3}He-A, providing a pathway for studies of unpaired Majorana modes bound to the HQV cores in the Polar-distorted A phase.
Journal ArticleDOI
Double-quantum vortex in superfluid 3He-A
Rob Blaauwgeers,Vladimir Eltsov,Matti Krusius,J. J. Ruohio,R Schanen,R Schanen,Grigory Volovik,Grigory Volovik +7 more
TL;DR: Here it is reported direct proof, based on high-resolution nuclear magnetic resonance measurements, that the most common vortex line in 3He-A has n = 2, and one vortex line after another is observed to form in a regular periodic process, similar to a phase-slip in the Josephson effect.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vibrating Quartz Fork—A Tool for Cryogenic Helium Research
M. Blažková,M. Človečko,Vladimir Eltsov,E. Gažo,R. de Graaf,J. J. Hosio,Matti Krusius,D. Schmoranzer,Wilfried Schoepe,Ladislav Skrbek,P. Skyba,R. E. Solntsev,W. F. Vinen +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors review the use of tuning forks as thermometers, pressure-and viscometers as well as their potential as generators and detectors of cavitation and turbulence in viscous and superfluid He liquids.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dynamics of vortices and interfaces in superfluid 3He
Antti Finne,Vladimir Eltsov,Risto Hänninen,Risto Hänninen,N. B. Kopnin,N. B. Kopnin,J. Kopu,Matti Krusius,Makoto Tsubota,Grigory Volovik,Grigory Volovik +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the interplay of different vortex structures at the first-order interface between the two major superfluid 3He phases, 3HeA and 3He-B, is discussed.
