Journal ArticleDOI
Cost-effectiveness analysis of genetic screening for the Taq1B polymorphism in the secondary prevention of coronary heart disease.
TL;DR: There is an 89% probability that screening and prescribing statin treatment to those with the B1B2 and B2B2 alleles is more cost effective than prescribing statins to all patients, and modeling the cost–effectiveness of pharmacogenetics in major areas of medicine provides useful information to help in resource allocation and decision making.
Journal ArticleDOI
Patterns of tobacco smoking among illicit drug users in Australia 2001–2010
TL;DR: Over the last decade, party drug users have been a relatively socially advantaged sub-population, yet smoking prevalence among these and other drug users has remained higher than among non-users.
Journal ArticleDOI
Possible causes and consequences of reduced perceptions of the risks of using cannabis.
Wayne Hall,Katherine I. Morley +1 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the proportion of Americans who perceived occasional and regular use of cannabis to be risky declined between 2002 and 2010 but whether these differences in perceived risks were wholly explained by higher rates of recent cannabis use among young people and males is not clear.
Ambulance calls to suspected drug overdoses: Analysis of New South Wales patterns
Louisa Degenhardt,Wayne Hall +1 more
TL;DR: Because overdoses attended by ambulance officers are a more common occurrence than fatal overdoses, they provide an important source of information about heroin use and the location of ambulance attendances provides information about areas in which the use of heroin may be more common.
