Draft genome of the kiwifruit Actinidia chinensis
Shengxiong Huang,Shengxiong Huang,Jian Ding,Dejing Deng,Wei Tang,Honghe Sun,Dongyuan Liu,Lei Zhang,Xiangli Niu,Xia Zhang,Meng Meng,J. Yu,Jia Liu,Yi Han,Wei Shi,Danfeng Zhang,Shuqing Cao,Zhaojun Wei,Yongliang Cui,Yanhua Xia,Huaping Zeng,Kan Bao,Lin Lin,Ya Min,Hua Zhang,Min Miao,Min Miao,Xiaofeng Tang,Xiaofeng Tang,Yunye Zhu,Yuan Sui,Guangwei Li,Hanju Sun,Junyang Yue,Jiaqi Sun,Fangfang Liu,Liangqiang Zhou,Lin Lei,Xiaoqin Zheng,Ming Liu,Long Huang,Jun Song,Chunhua Xu,Jiewei Li,Kaiyu Ye,Silin Zhong,Silin Zhong,Bao-Rong Lu,Guanghua He,Fangming Xiao,Hui-Li Wang,Hongkun Zheng,Zhangjun Fei,Zhangjun Fei,Yongsheng Liu,Yongsheng Liu +55 more
TL;DR: As the first sequenced species in the Ericales, the kiwifruit genome sequence provides a valuable resource not only for biological discovery and crop improvement but also for evolutionary and comparative genomics analysis, particularly in the asterid lineage.
Journal ArticleDOI
RNAi-directed downregulation of OsBADH2 results in aroma (2-acetyl-1-pyrroline) production in rice (Oryza sativa L.)
Xiangli Niu,Wei Tang,Weizao Huang,Guangjun Ren,Qilin Wang,Di Luo,Yingyong Xiao,Shimei Yang,Feng Wang,Bao-Rong Lu,Fangyuan Gao,Tiegang Lu,Yongsheng Liu +12 more
TL;DR: It is found that the altered expression levels of OsBADH2 gene influence aroma accumulation, and the prevalent aromatic allele probably has a single evolutionary origin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comprehensive Transcriptome Profiling Reveals Long Noncoding RNA Expression and Alternative Splicing Regulation during Fruit Development and Ripening in Kiwifruit (Actinidia chinensis).
Wei Tang,Yi Zheng,Jing Dong,Jia Yu,Junyang Yue,Fangfang Liu,Xiuhong Guo,Shengxiong Huang,Michael Wisniewski,Jiaqi Sun,Xiangli Niu,Jian Ding,Jia Liu,Zhangjun Fei,Yongsheng Liu,Yongsheng Liu +15 more
TL;DR: The data generated in this study provide a foundation for further studies of fruit development and ripening in kiwifruit, and identify candidate genes and regulatory elements that could serve as targets for improving important agronomic traits through marker assisted breeding and biotechnology.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chromosome-scale genome assembly of kiwifruit Actinidia eriantha with single-molecule sequencing and chromatin interaction mapping
Wei Tang,Wei Tang,Wei Tang,Xuepeng Sun,Junyang Yue,Junyang Yue,Xiaofeng Tang,Xiaofeng Tang,Chen Jiao,Ying Yang,Xiangli Niu,Xiangli Niu,Min Miao,Min Miao,Danfeng Zhang,Shengxiong Huang,Wei Shi,Mingzhang Li,Congbing Fang,Zhangjun Fei,Zhangjun Fei,Yongsheng Liu,Yongsheng Liu,Yongsheng Liu +23 more
TL;DR: This chromosome-scale genome assembly is substantially better than 2 published kiwifruit assemblies from A. chinensis in terms of genome contiguity and completeness and provides a high-quality reference genome for k Kiwifruit A. eriantha.
Journal ArticleDOI
RNAi-directed downregulation of betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase 1 (OsBADH1) results in decreased stress tolerance and increased oxidative markers without affecting glycine betaine biosynthesis in rice (Oryza sativa)
Wei Tang,Jiaqi Sun,Jia Liu,Fangfang Liu,Jun Yan,Xiaojun Gou,Bao-Rong Lu,Yongsheng Liu,Yongsheng Liu +8 more
TL;DR: The downregulation of OsBADH1, even though not causing any change of GB content, was accounted for the reduction of ability to dehydrogenate the accumulating metabolism-derived aldehydes and subsequently resulted in decreased stress tolerance and crop productivity.
