Sequencing of allotetraploid cotton ( Gossypium hirsutum L. acc. TM-1) provides a resource for fiber improvement
Tianzhen Zhang,Yan Hu,Wenkai Jiang,Lei Fang,Xueying Guan,Jiedan Chen,Jinbo Zhang,Christopher A. Saski,Brian E. Scheffler,David M. Stelly,Amanda M. Hulse-Kemp,Qun Wan,Bingliang Liu,Chunxiao Liu,Sen Wang,Mengqiao Pan,Yangkun Wang,Dawei Wang,Wenxue Ye,Lijing Chang,Wenpan Zhang,Qingxin Song,Ryan C. Kirkbride,Xiao-Ya Chen,Elizabeth S. Dennis,Danny J. Llewellyn,Daniel G. Peterson,Peggy Thaxton,Don C. Jones,Qiong Wang,Xiaoyang Xu,Hua Zhang,Huaitong Wu,Lei Zhou,Gaofu Mei,Shuqi Chen,Yue Tian,Dan Xiang,Xinghe Li,Jian Ding,Qiyang Zuo,Linna Tao,Yunchao Liu,Ji Li,Yu Lin,Yuanyuan Hui,Zhisheng Cao,Caiping Cai,Xiefei Zhu,Zhi Jiang,Baoliang Zhou,Wangzhen Guo,Ruiqiang Li,Z. Jeffrey Chen +53 more
TL;DR: Genomic signatures of selection and domestication are associated with positively selected genes (PSGs) for fiber improvement in the A subgenome and for stress tolerance in the D subgenomes, suggesting asymmetric evolution.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sequence-based ultra-dense genetic and physical maps reveal structural variations of allopolyploid cotton genomes
Sen Wang,Jiedan Chen,Wenpan Zhang,Yan Hu,Lijing Chang,Lei Fang,Qiong Wang,Fenni Lv,Huaitong Wu,Zhanfeng Si,Shuqi Chen,Caiping Cai,Xiefei Zhu,Baoliang Zhou,Wangzhen Guo,Tianzhen Zhang +15 more
TL;DR: The genotype-by-sequencing method used to identify millions of SNPs between G. hirsutum and G. raimondii is reported, and the centromeric retro-element sequence of tetraploid cotton derived from the D subgenome progenitor might have invaded the A sub genome centromeres after allotetrapolyploid formation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure and size variations between 12A and 12D homoeologous chromosomes based on high-resolution cytogenetic map in allotetraploid cotton
Kai Wang,Wangzhen Guo,Zaijie Yang,Yan Hu,Wenpan Zhang,Baoliang Zhou,David M. Stelly,Z. Jeffrey Chen,Tianzhen Zhang +8 more
TL;DR: Comprehensive analyses of integrated cytogenetic and linkage maps of homoeologous chromosomes 12A and 12D in allotetraploid cotton using fluorescence in situ hybridization and a large number of bacterial artificial chromosomes that were anchored by simple sequence repeat markers in the corresponding linkage maps are reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isolation and characterization of centromeric repetitive DNA sequences in Saccharum spontaneum
TL;DR: A genome-wide analysis of the DNA sequences associated with CenH3 using chromatin immunoprecipitation followed by sequencing method suggests an autopolyploid genome identity of S. spontaneum with a high level of homology among its eight sub-genomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Systematic application of DNA fiber-FISH technique in cotton.
TL;DR: The development and application of fiber-FISH technique will facilitate high-resolution physical mapping and further directed sequencing projects for cotton, and it was revealed that both telomere and 5S rDNA were methylated at different levels.
