Glial Membranes at the Node of Ranvier Prevent Neurite Outgrowth
Jeffrey K. Huang,Greg R. Phillips,Alejandro D. Roth,Liliana Pedraza,Weisong Shan,Wiam Belkaid,Sha Mi,Asa Fex-Svenningsen,Laurence Florens,John R. Yates,David R. Colman +10 more
TL;DR: Nodes of Ranvier are regularly placed, nonmyelinated axon segments along myelinated nerves, and proteomic analysis of these membranes revealed several inhibitors of neurite outgrowth, including the oligodendrocyte myelin glycoprotein (OMgp).

Journal ArticleDOI
Rapid Assembly of Functional Presynaptic Boutons Triggered by Adhesive Contacts
Anna Lisa Lucido,Fernando Suarez Sanchez,Peter Thostrup,Adam V. Kwiatkowski,Sergio Leal-Ortiz,Gopakumar Gopalakrishnan,Dalinda Liazoghli,Wiam Belkaid,R. Bruce Lennox,Peter Grutter,Craig C. Garner,David R. Colman +11 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that certain (but not all) nonspecific cationic molecules like PDL, with presumably electrostatically mediated adhesive properties, can effectively bypass cognate and natural postsynaptic ligands to trigger presynaptic assembly in the absence of specific target recognition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lipidome and proteome map of myelin membranes
Gopakumar Gopalakrishnan,Gopakumar Gopalakrishnan,Anshul Awasthi,Wiam Belkaid,Wiam Belkaid,Omar de Faria,Omar de Faria,Dalinda Liazoghli,Dalinda Liazoghli,David R. Colman,David R. Colman,Ajit S. Dhaunchak,Ajit S. Dhaunchak +12 more
TL;DR: Although this study demonstrates many similarities between human and murine myelin, several components have been identified exclusively in each species, and the combined lipidome and proteome map presented here can nevertheless be used as a reference library for myelin health and disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Natural Polyphenol Exerts Antitumor Activity and Circumvents Anti–PD-1 Resistance through Effects on the Gut Microbiota
Meriem Messaoudene,Reilly Pidgeon,Corentin Richard,Mayra Ponce,Khoudia Diop,Myriam Benlaifaoui,A. Nolin-Lapalme,Florent Cauchois,Julie Malo,Wiam Belkaid,Stéphane Isnard,Yves Fradet,Lharbi Dridi,Dominique Velin,Paul Oster,Didier Raoult,François Ghiringhelli,Romain Boidot,Sandy Chevrier,David T. Kysela,Yves V. Brun,E. Liana Falcone,Geneviève Pilon,Florian Plaza Oñate,Oscar Gitton-Quent,E. Le Chatelier,Sylvère Durand,Guido Kroemer,Arielle Elkrief,André Marette,Bastien Castagner,Bertrand Routy +31 more
TL;DR: Oral supplementation with the polyphenol-rich berry camu-camu in mice shifted gut microbial composition, which translated into antitumor activity and a stronger anti-PD-1 response, and castalagin, an ellagitannin, was identified as the active compound in CC.
