Journal ArticleDOI

Two energy gaps and Fermi-surface "arcs" in NbSe2.

TL;DR: Using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, the direct observation of the energy gap in 2H-NbSe2 caused by the charge-density waves (CDW) is reported, which implies a nesting mechanism of CDW formation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cation-specific interactions with carboxylate in amino acid and acetate aqueous solutions: X-ray absorption and ab initio calculations.

TL;DR: From the intensity variations of the COO (-) aq O 1s X-ray absorption peak, which quantitatively correlate with the change in the local partial density of states from the carboxylic site, interactions are found to decrease in the sequence Na (+) > Li (-) > K (+) • NH 4 (+).
Journal ArticleDOI

Size-dependent XPS spectra of small supported Au-clusters

TL;DR: In this article, high resolution XPS spectra (4f) of mass-selected Au N -clusters supported by a thin natural silica layer are presented in the size range N ǫ = 1 − 35 atoms per cluster.
Journal ArticleDOI

Photoelectron angular distributions from liquid water: effects of electron scattering

TL;DR: The PADs reveal that theoretical estimates of the inelastic mean free path are likely too long at low kinetic energies, and hence the electron probing depth in water, near threshold ionization, appears to be considerably smaller than so far assumed.
