Journal ArticleDOI
Anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory mechanisms of mesenchymal stem cell transplantation in experimental traumatic brain injury
TL;DR: This study suggests that MSCs have the ability to modulate inflammation-associated immune cells and cytokines in TBI-induced cerebral inflammatory responses, and offers a new insight into the mechanisms responsible for the immunomodulatory effect of MSC transplantation.
Journal ArticleDOI
A TAG1-APP signalling pathway through Fe65 negatively modulates neurogenesis
Quan-Hong Ma,Toshitaka Futagawa,Toshitaka Futagawa,Wulin Yang,Xiao-dan Jiang,Li Zeng,Yasuo Takeda,Ruxiang Xu,Dominique Bagnard,Melitta Schachner,Melitta Schachner,Andrew J.W. Furley,Domna Karagogeos,Kazutada Watanabe,Gavin S. Dawe,Zhi-Cheng Xiao,Zhi-Cheng Xiao,Zhi-Cheng Xiao +17 more
TL;DR: A TAG1–APP signalling pathway that negatively modulates neurogenesis through Fe65 is described, which found that, through an extracellular interaction with APP, TAG1 increased AICD release and triggered Fe65-dependent activity in a γ-secretase-dependent manner.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adenoviral‐mediated interleukin‐18 expression in mesenchymal stem cells effectively suppresses the growth of glioma in rats
Gang Xu,Xiao-dan Jiang,Ying Xu,Jing Zhang,Fanheng Huang,Zhen-Zhou Chen,De-Xiang Zhou,Jiang-Hua Shang,Yu-Xi Zou,Ying-qian Cai,Sheng-bin Kou,Yi-zhao Chen,Ru-xiang Xu,Yanjun Zeng +13 more
TL;DR: When used in conjunction with MSCs as targeting vehicles in vivo, IL‐18 may offer a promising new treatment option for malignant glioma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mesenchymal stem cells inhibit lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory responses of BV2 microglial cells through TSG-6
Yi Liu,Run Zhang,Ke Yan,Fanfan Chen,Weiyi Huang,Bingke Lv,Chengmei Sun,Limin Xu,Feng Li,Xiao-dan Jiang +9 more
TL;DR: This study indicates that novel mechanisms are responsible for the immunomodulatory effect of MSCs on microglia and that M SCs, as well as TSG-6, might be promising therapeutic agents for the treatment of neurotraumatic injuries or neuroinflammatory diseases associated with microglial activation.
Journal ArticleDOI
NT-3-secreting human umbilical cord mesenchymal stromal cell transplantation for the treatment of acute spinal cord injury in rats.
Aijia Shang,Sun-Quan Hong,Qiang Xu,Hang-Yan Wang,Ying Yang,Zhongfeng Wang,Bai-Nan Xu,Xiao-dan Jiang,Ru-xiang Xu +8 more
TL;DR: Results show that NT-3 enhanced the therapeutic effects of HUMSCs after clip injury of the spinal cord.
