Journal ArticleDOI
Real-time mass spectrometric characterization of the solid-electrolyte interphase of a lithium-ion battery.
Yufan Zhou,Yufan Zhou,Mao Su,Mao Su,Xiao-Fei Yu,Xiao-Fei Yu,Yanyan Zhang,Jun-Gang Wang,Xiaodi Ren,Ruiguo Cao,Wu Xu,Donald R. Baer,Yingge Du,Oleg Borodin,Yanting Wang,Xue-Lin Wang,Kang Xu,Zhijie Xu,Chongmin Wang,Zihua Zhu +19 more
TL;DR: An operando mass spectrometry technique is presented, along with molecular dynamics simulations, that unveils the evolution of the solid–electrolyte interphase chemistry and structure in lithium-ion batteries during the first cycle.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improving the Molecular Ion Signal Intensity for In Situ Liquid SIMS Analysis
Yufan Zhou,Yufan Zhou,Juan Yao,Yuanzhao Ding,Yuanzhao Ding,Jiachao Yu,Xin Hua,James E. Evans,Xiao-Fei Yu,Xiao-Fei Yu,David B. Lao,David J. Heldebrant,Satish K. Nune,Bin Cao,Mark E. Bowden,Xiao-Ying Yu,Xue-Lin Wang,Zihua Zhu +17 more
TL;DR: It is reported that strong and reliable positive and negative molecular signals are achievable after optimizing the SIMS experimental conditions and molecular ion signal intensity has become very acceptable for use of in situ liquid SIMS to study solid–liquid and liquid–vacuum interfaces.
Journal ArticleDOI
Potential-Dynamic Surface Chemistry Controls the Electrocatalytic Processes of Ethanol Oxidation on Gold Surfaces
Yanyan Zhang,Yanyan Zhang,Jun-Gang Wang,Xiao-Fei Yu,Donald R. Baer,Yao Zhao,Lanqun Mao,Fuyi Wang,Zihua Zhu +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a liquid SIMS approach was used to investigate the electrocatalytic oxidation of ethanol on gold surfaces in alkaline environments involved in direct alcohol fuel cells, and the formation of adsorbed hydroxide intermediates on the gold surfaces upon electro-oxidation was molecularly witnessed under operando conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Investigation of Ion-Solvent Interactions in Nonaqueous Electrolytes Using in Situ Liquid SIMS
Yanyan Zhang,Mao Su,Xiao-Fei Yu,Yufan Zhou,Jun-Gang Wang,Ruiguo Cao,Wu Xu,Chongmin Wang,Donald R. Baer,Oleg Borodin,Kang Xu,Yanting Wang,Xue-Lin Wang,Zhijie Xu,Fuyi Wang,Zihua Zhu +15 more
TL;DR: Findings indicate that with virtues of little bias on detecting positive and negative ions and the capability of directly analyzing concentrated electrolytes, in situ liquid SIMS is a powerful tool that can provide key evidence for improved understanding on the ion-solvent interactions in nonaqueous electrolytes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modification of WS2 nanosheets with controllable layers via oxygen ion irradiation
Hong-Lian Song,Xiao-Fei Yu,Ming Chen,Mei Qiao,Tie-Jun Wang,Jing Zhang,Liu Yong,Peng Liu,Xue-Lin Wang +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the structure, composition and optical band gap of WS2 films deposited by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method on sapphire substrates before and after oxygen ion irradiation with different energy and fluences were studied.
