New Perspectives on How to Discover Drugs from Herbal Medicines: CAM's Outstanding Contribution to Modern Therapeutics.
Si Yuan Pan,Shu-Feng Zhou,Si Hua Gao,Zhi-Ling Yu,Shuo Feng Zhang,Min Ke Tang,Jian Ning Sun,Dik-Lung Ma,Yifan Han,Wang Fun Fong,Kam Ming Ko +10 more
TL;DR: The prospect of drug discovery from herbal medicines in the postgenomic era was made with the provision of future directions in this area of drug development.
Journal ArticleDOI
Beneficial effects of the converting enzyme inhibitor, ramipril, in ischemic rat hearts.
TL;DR: Results of these experiments in rat hearts suggest that local inhibition of CE by ramipril exerts protective effects after ischemia and reperfusion by reducing arrhythmias and improving cardiac function and metabolism, thus probably contributing to the therapeutic effects of CE inhibitors in cardiovascular diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI
SP600125, a new JNK inhibitor, protects dopaminergic neurons in the MPTP model of Parkinson’s disease
Wenya Wang,Leyu Shi,Yuanbin Xie,Chi Ma,Wengming Li,Xingwen Su,Shoujian Huang,Ruzhu Chen,Zhenyu Zhu,Zixu Mao,Yifan Han,Mingtao Li +11 more
TL;DR: It is found that inhibiting JNK with SP600125 reduced the levels of c-Jun phosphorylation, protected dopaminergic neurons from apoptosis, and partly restored the level of dopamine in MPTP-induced PD in C57BL/6N mice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of short-tether bis-THA AChE inhibitors. A further test of the dual binding site hypothesis.
Paul R. Carlier,Yifan Han,Ella S.H. Chow,Crystal P.L. Li,Hong Wang,Thuy Xuan Lieu,Hau Sum Wong,Yuan Ping Pang +7 more
TL;DR: These studies indicate that simultaneous binding of alkylene-linked 9-amino-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroacridine dimers to the catalytic and peripheral sites of AChE is possible with a tether length as short as 5 methylenes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Baicalein Protects against 6‑OHDA-Induced Neurotoxicity through Activation of Keap1/Nrf2/HO‑1 and Involving PKCα and PI3K/AKT Signaling Pathways
Zaijun Zhang,Wei Cui,Guohui Li,Shuai Yuan,Daping Xu,Maggie Pui Man Hoi,Zhi-Xiu Lin,Juan Dou,Juan Dou,Yifan Han,Simon Ming-Yuen Lee +10 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that baicalein prevented PC12 cells from 6-OHDA-induced oxidative damage via the activation of Keap1/Nrf2/HO-1, and it also involves the PKCα and PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.
