TL;DR: Investigation of many newly identified gene products, including the 70 putative virulence factors, will greatly improve the understanding of the biology of staphylococci and the processes of infectious diseases caused by S aureus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evolution of Paralogous Genes: Reconstruction of Genome Rearrangements Through Comparison of Multiple Genomes Within Staphylococcus aureus
TL;DR: Compared DNA sequences to detect large genome polymorphisms and to deduce mechanisms of genome rearrangements that have formed each of them revealed importance of recombination involving long conserved sequence in the evolution of paralogous genes in the genome.
Journal ArticleDOI
IS-Linked Movement of a Restriction-Modification System
TL;DR: In vivo movement of a mobile element and a restriction-modification system for successful joint migration is demonstrated and may have promoted the spread and, therefore, the long-term persistence of these complexes and restriction- modification systems in a wide range of prokaryotes.
