Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in whole blood viscosity during hemodialysis and mortality in patients with end-stage renal disease.

TL;DR: Data showed that a high degree of change in WBV at variable shear rates during hemodialysis might impact overall survival in patients with end-stage kidney disease, and large-scale studies to evaluate the relationship of WBV with overall mortality and atherosclerotic mortality will be needed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Determination of hematocrit using on-line conductance cell

TL;DR: In this article, a new conductivity cell was developed to measure the hematocrit of whole blood using a bipolar square-wave voltage signal at a frequency of 5 kHz, and the coefficient of correlation between the present method and conventional microcentrifuge method showed an excellent linear relationship.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reduced amputation rate with isovolemic hemodilution in critical limb ischemia patients.

TL;DR: Isovolemic hemodilution treatment of CLI patients was found to be well-tolerated and reduced the rate of major amputation resulting from the deterioration of CLI.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Analysis of Ice Crystal Ingestion as a Source of Ice Accretion inside Turbofans

TL;DR: In this article, the mechanics of ice crystals as a sole source of engine core ice accretion inside commercial transport aircraft turbofan engines were discussed, and the results were compared to spherical drop motion.
