6-Paradol and 6-Shogaol, the Pungent Compounds of Ginger, Promote Glucose Utilization in Adipocytes and Myotubes, and 6-Paradol Reduces Blood Glucose in High-Fat Diet-Fed Mice
Chien Kei Wei,Yi Hong Tsai,Michal Korinek,Pei Hsuan Hung,Mohamed El-Shazly,Mohamed El-Shazly,Yuan-Bin Cheng,Yang Chang Wu,Tusty-Jiuan Hsieh,Tusty-Jiuan Hsieh,Fang Rong Chang,Fang Rong Chang +11 more
TL;DR: 6-Paradol, the major metabolite of 6-shogaol, was utilized in an in vivo assay and significantly reduced blood glucose, cholesterol and body weight in high-fat diet-fed mice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chemical constituents and bioactivities of Clinacanthus nutans aerial parts.
Shu Fen Tu,Rosa Huang Liu,Yuan-Bin Cheng,Yu Ming Hsu,Ying Chi Du,Mohamed El-Shazly,Mohamed El-Shazly,Yang Chang Wu,Fang Rong Chang,Fang Rong Chang +9 more
TL;DR: Four new sulfur-containing compounds, named clinamides A-C, and 2-cis-entadamide A (4), were isolated together with three known compounds from the bioactive ethanol extract of the aerial parts of Clinacanthus nutans.
Journal ArticleDOI
Kadsuphilactones A and B, two new triterpene dilactones from kadsuraphilippinensis.
TL;DR: Two novel triterpene dilactones, kadsuphilactones A and B, were isolated from the Taiwanese medicinal plant Kadsura philippinensis and exhibited in vitro anti-HBV activity with IC(50) values of 6 microg/mL by HBsAg enzyme immunoassay.
Journal ArticleDOI
Iron-Catalyzed Oxidative Direct α-C–H Bond Functionalization of Cyclic Ethers: Selective C–O Bond Formation in the Presence of a Labile Aldehyde Group
Balaji D. Barve,Yang Chang Wu,Yang Chang Wu,Mohamed El-Shazly,Mohamed El-Shazly,Michal Korinek,Yuan-Bin Cheng,Jeh-Jeng Wang,Fang Rong Chang +8 more
TL;DR: This work reports the first example of iron catalyzed selective C-O bond formation in the presence of a sensitive aldehyde moiety in moderate to excellent yields.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cytotoxic and Antimicrobial Napyradiomycins from Two Marine-Derived, MAR 4 Streptomyces Strains.
TL;DR: Cancer cell cytotoxicity-guided fractionation of the acetone extracts of two cultured marine-derived Streptomyces strains belonging to the MAR4 group yielded six new napyradiomycins, compounds A-F (1-6), together with three known compounds, napyrads B2-B4 (7-9), whose antibacterial activities against Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and MRSA are presented.
