Receptor binding and complex structures of human ACE2 to spike RBD from omicron and delta SARS-CoV-2
Pengcheng Han,Lin-jie Li,Sheng Liu,Qisheng Wang,Di Zhang,Zepeng Xu,Pu Han,Xiaomei Li,Qi Peng,Chao Su,Baihan Huang,Dedong Li,Rong Zhang,M. Tian,Lutang Fu,Yuanzhu Gao,Xin Zhao,Kefang Liu,Jianxun Qi,George F. Gao,Peiyi Wang +20 more
TL;DR: In this article , the binding properties between the human receptor ACE2 (hACE2) and the VOC RBDs were studied and the crystal and cryoelectron microscopy structures of the omicron RBD-hACE 2 complex were resolved.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Architecture of Inactivated SARS-CoV-2 with Postfusion Spikes Revealed by Cryo-EM and Cryo-ET.
Chuang Liu,Luiza Mendonça,Yang Yang,Yuanzhu Gao,Chenguang Shen,Jiwei Liu,Tao Ni,Bin Ju,Congcong Liu,Xian Tang,Jinli Wei,Xiaomin Ma,Yanan Zhu,Weilong Liu,Shuman Xu,Yingxia Liu,Jing Yuan,Jing Wu,Zheng Liu,Zheng Zhang,Lei Liu,Peiyi Wang,Peijun Zhang +22 more
TL;DR: This work genetically and structurally characterized β-propiolactone-inactivated viruses from a propagated and purified clinical strain of SARS-CoV-2 and observed that the virus particles are roughly spherical or moderately pleiomorphic, thus resembling a postfusion state.

Viral Architecture of SARS-CoV-2 with Post-Fusion Spike Revealed by Cryo-EM
Chang Liu,Y.Y. Yang,Yuanzhu Gao,Chen-Yang Shen,Ju B,Xulei Tang,Jun Wei,Xiaomin Ma,William J. Liu,Shuman Xu,Yan Jun Liu,Yuan J,Jinsong Wu,Zheng Liu,Zike Zhang,Peng George Wang,Liping Liu +16 more
TL;DR: The morphology of virion observed in the result indicates that the S protein of SARS-CoV-2 is in post-fusion state, with S1 disassociated, which could provide an important information for the identification and relevant clinical research of this new coronavirus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Omicron SARS-CoV-2 mutations stabilize spike up-RBD conformation and lead to a non-RBM-binding monoclonal antibody escape
Zhennan Zhao,Jingya Zhou,M. Tian,Min Huang,Sheng Liu,Yufeng Xie,Pu Han,Chongzhi Bai,Pengcheng Han,Anqi Zheng,Lutang Fu,Yuanzhu Gao,Qi Peng,Ying Li,Yan Chai,Zengli Zhang,Xin Zhao,Hao Song,Jianxun Qi,Qihui Wang,Peiyi Wang,George F. Gao +21 more
TL;DR: Systematic structural analyses on apo Omicron spike and its complexes with human ACE2 or S309 neutralizing antibody by cryo-EM found that S371L, S373P and S375F substitutions enhance the stability of the one-RBD-up conformation to prevent exposing more up-R BDs triggered by ACE2 binding.
Journal ArticleDOI
The phosphorylation and dephosphorylation switch of VCP/p97 regulates the architecture of centrosome and spindle
Kaiyuan Zhu,Yang Cai,Xiaotong Si,Zuodong Ye,Yuanzhu Gao,Chang Liu,Rui Wang,Zhibin Ma,Huazhang Zhu,Liangren Zhang,Shengjin Li,Hongmin Zhang,Jianbo Yue +12 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that polo-like kinase 1 (Plk1), a key mitotic kinase, phosphorylates residue Thr76 in VCP/p97 (an AAA-ATPase), at the centrosome from prophase to anaphase, and regulates centrosomes orientation.
