Journal ArticleDOI
Crystal structure of heliorhodopsin.
Wataru Shihoya,Keiichi Inoue,Manish Singh,Masae Konno,Shoko Hososhima,Keitaro Yamashita,Kento Ikeda,Akimitsu Higuchi,Tamaki Izume,Sae Okazaki,Masanori Hashimoto,Ritsu Mizutori,Sahoko Tomida,Yumeka Yamauchi,Rei Abe-Yoshizumi,Kota Katayama,Satoshi P. TL;DR: The 2.4-Å-resolution structure of HeR from an uncultured Thermoplasmatales archaeon SG8-52-1 shows that it adopts a similar fold to that of type I rhodopsin—despite the low sequence identity—but there are also several marked differences that provide insights into heliorhodopin function.
Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular properties of a DTD channelrhodopsin from Guillardia theta.
Yumeka Yamauchi,Masae Konno,Shota Ito,Satoshi P. Tsunoda,Satoshi P. Tsunoda,Keiichi Inoue,Hideki Kandori +6 more
TL;DR: Electrophysiological measurements, flash photolysis experiments, and low-temperature difference FTIR spectroscopy showed that channel closing occurs upon reprotonation of the Schiff base, suggesting that the dynamics of retinal and channels are tightly coupled in GtCCR4.
Journal ArticleDOI
Engineered Functional Recovery of Microbial Rhodopsin Without Retinal‐Binding Lysine
Yumeka Yamauchi,Masae Konno,Daichi Yamada,Kei Yura,Kei Yura,Keiichi Inoue,Keiichi Inoue,Keiichi Inoue,Oded Béjà,Hideki Kandori +9 more
TL;DR: Successful engineered functional recovery such as visible color and proton‐pump activity suggests that the Rh‐noK protein forms a characteristic structure of microbial rhodopsins.
Journal ArticleDOI
Estimation of blood-based biomarkers of glial activation related to neuroinflammation
Fumihiko Yasuno,Atsushi Watanabe,Yasuyuki Kimura,Yumeka Yamauchi,Aya Ogata,Hiroshi Ikenuma,Junichiro Abe,Hiroyuki Minami,Takashi Nihashi,Kastunori Yokoi,Saori Hattori,Nobuyoshi Shimoda,Kensaku Kasuga,Takeshi Ikeuchi,Akinori Takeda,Takashi Sakurai,Kengo Ito,Takashi Kato +17 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a stepwise backward deletion multiple regression analysis was used to determine the predictors of the TSPO-binding potential (BPND) estimated by positron emission tomography (PET) imaging.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression analysis of microbial rhodopsin-like genes in Guillardia theta.
TL;DR: The Cryptomonad Guillardia theta has 42 genes encoding microbial rhodopsin-like proteins in their genomes, and the expression patterns of these genes under various growth conditions were investigated, finding that the expression of 6 genes was induced under N depletion, while that of another 7 genes was reduced underN depletion.
