TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of incident angle and state of polarization on one-way absorption behavior of the anti-resonant (AR) mode are investigated, where the normally incident wave from left to right propagation is totally allowed to penetrate to the structure but right to left propagation totally reflected at the same wavelength.
Abstract: In this paper, the one-way absorption property in one-dimensional dielectric/metal photonic crystal structure with a dielectric defect layer is studied. The effects of incident angle and state of polarization on one-way absorption behaviour of the anti-resonant (AR) mode are investigated. The normally incident wave from left to right propagation is totally allowed to penetrate to the structure but right to left propagation totally reflected at the same wavelength. It is found that, with increasing of the incident angle, the AR mode shifts to the lower wavelengths and its intensity decreases. Simultaneously, another AR mode with reversed one-way property appears at higher wavelength. The one-way behaviour on absorption is observed at the both states of polarizations but is localized on different wavelengths. Those effects, are suggesting that the proposed structure can be used as a direction sense polarization splitter or reflector/antireflector device.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of the interface detail of all-steel buckling restrained brace (BRB) models on the buckling behavior of the core plate was investigated using finite element analysis.
Abstract: This study presents the finite element analysis results of the proposed all-steel buckling restrained brace (BRB) models. The objective of the analysis is to conduct a parametric study to investigate the effect of interface detail of BRBs on local buckling behavior of the core plate. Moreover, the effects of magnitude of friction coefficient (¦I) between the core and the buckling restraining mechanism (BRM) contact, the size of gap between the core and the BRM, and the unbonding material thickness on local buckling behavior of core plate in BRBs are investigated through the finite element analysis method. Based on the results, the interface configuration, the magnitude of friction coefficient at the interface, and the size of gap could significantly affect the local buckling behavior of core plate in all-steel BRBs. However, the thickness change in unbonding material was not found to considerably affect the overall response of BRBs. Finally, an appropriate interface detail in BRBs was suggested for design purposes based on the finite element analyses results.

TL;DR: A survey and review of the recent research and published literature on the graphene-based materials for water purification can be found in this article, where the main methods discussed are adsorption, photocatalysis, membrane filtration, and electrochemical Water purification.
Abstract: Water purification is the collective name for a group of processes that make water more suitable for drinking, medical use, industrial use, and so on. A water purification process is designed to remove or reduce existing water contaminants to the point where the water is fit for use. In the last few years, innovative methods such as nanotechnology have been studied to develop water purification technologies. Graphene is a two-dimensional mesh of carbon atoms arranged in the form of a honeycomb lattice. It has earned the title, “miracle material,” thanks to a startlingly large collection of beneficial properties. It is thought that graphene could revolutionize the whole industry, as researchers work on many different kinds of graphene-based materials, each one with unique qualities and designation. The present chapter surveys and reviews the recent research and published literature on the graphene-based materials for water purification. The main methods discussed are adsorption, photocatalysis, membrane filtration, and electrochemical water purification.
