TL;DR: It is verified that the precision of atmospheric temperature measurement with a high spectral resolution lidar system under construction is feasible for practical use.
Abstract: Following the suggestion of Young and Kattawar, we used the S6 model to recalculate Rayleigh-Brillouin spectra of nitrogen and the required measurement time for a high spectral resolution lidar (HSRL) which we proposed for atmospheric parameter measurements. As expected, the calculated sensitivity for atmospheric temperature using this model and a simpler SM model previously used is nearly the same. In this paper, the procedures for selecting the optimum temperature for an atomic vapor filter as well as for error analysis and sensitivity estimation were carried out. It is verified that the precision of atmospheric temperature measurement with a HSRL system under construction is feasible for practical use.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of zinc oxide encapsulated in polystyrene (C-St-ZnO) was studied concerning its effect on photoconductivity and it was observed that the light sensitization effect was increased in proportion to an increase of the encapsulation ratio.
Abstract: Zinc oxide encapsulated in various polymers was studied concerning its effect on photoconductivity. Consequently, zinc oxide encapsulated in polystyrene (C-St-ZnO) showed a marked light sensitization effect. Further, the tendency was observed that the light sensitization effect was increased in proportion to an increase of the encapsulation ratio. Furthermore, in the composite films of C-St-ZnO and polystyrene, the film in which 5% of polystyrene is blended showed a remarkable light sensitization effect. Some studies were carried out with respect to the light sensitization mechanism of this encapsulated zinc oxide by examining the dark current property and the initial rising rate of the sensitized photocurrent.

TL;DR: Two of the five possible geometrical isomers of [RhCl2(edpp)2]- were formed by reaction of rhCl3·2H2O with edpp (edpp=(2-aminoethyl)diphenylphosphine) in 1:2 molar ratio in ethanol as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: Two of the five possible geometrical isomers of [RhCl2(edpp)2]+ were formed by reaction of RhCl3·2H2O with edpp (edpp=(2-aminoethyl)diphenylphosphine) in 1:2 molar ratio in ethanol. The chlorides of the isomers were separated by fractional crystallization from ethanol. The structures of the more soluble (main product) and the less soluble (minor product) complexes were determined by X-ray analyses to have the trans(Cl,Cl), cis(P,P) and cis(Cl,Cl), trans(P,P) configurations, respectively. Crystal data are: for trans(Cl,Cl), cis(P,P)-[RhCl2(edpp)2]Cl·2C2H5OH, triclinic, space group P\bar1, with a=10.024(3), b=18.865(3), c=9.833(2) A, α=97.66(1), β=103.92(2), γ=82.30(2)°, and Z=2, and for cis(Cl,Cl), trans(P,P)-[RhCl2(edpp)2]Cl·4H2O, triclinic, space group P\bar1, with a=11.341(4), b=17.780(6), c=8.712(3) A, α=95.60(4), β=112.31(3), γ=82.56(4)°, and Z=2. The trans influence of the P atom on the Rh–N and Rh–P bond lengths is observed. The mean Rh–N and Rh–P bond lengths (2.125(4) and 2.300(1)A) in the trans(C...

TL;DR: Parameter identification in a process-model control system, in which the controller involves a model of the process, is presented and is based on an expression for the prediction of the controlled response as a linear function in the process parameters.
Abstract: Parameter identification in a process-model control system, in which the controller involves a model of the process, is presented. The identification is performed through using information about the difference between the actual and specified responses. The identification procedure is based on an expression for the prediction of the controlled response as a linear function in the process parameters, and based on successive solutions of a set of linear algebraic equations.

TL;DR: In this paper, the results show that the temperature dependencies of the physical properties have inflections near 180°C, which may suggest that the introduced nitrogen plays an important role in recombining the splitted denatured molecules and tightening the structure of the char.
Abstract: Rayon fabrics treated with ammonium sulfate were heated in the temperature range of 120 to 340°C in air and in nitrogen atmosphere, and the changes in the physical properties were investigated. The results show that the temperature dependencies of the physical properties have inflections near 180°C. In the range of 120 to 180°C, dehydration and depolymerization seem to mainly proceed, being accompanied with weight loss as well as decrease in tensile strength. However, above around 180°C, the different but noteworthy changes were observed, namely, 1) marked increase in tensile strength, 2) release of carbon and introduction of nitrogen, 3) loss of solubility and changes in density. These may suggest that the introduced nitrogen plays an important role in recombining the splitted denatured molecules and hence in tightening the structure of the char.Furthermore, an excellent flame-resistant fabric has been prepared by application of the procedure above mentioned. This fabric has a high L. O. I. value of 47, unmeltability, high hygro-scopicity and also excellent thermal and electrical insulatabilities, so that it seems to be useful in the fields where hazardous thermal environments exist.

TL;DR: In this paper, the yields and the tensile strength of charred rayon fabrics were measured using pyrolysed at 300°C in air, and the results were discussed in relation to the flameproofing mechanisms of cellulose.
Abstract: Rayon fabrics, untreated or treated with sulfur-containing acids, nitrogen-containing bases and their salts or mixtures, were pyrolysed at 300°C in air, and the yields and the tensile strengths of charred rayon fabrics were measured. For the comparison, the salts of phosphoric acid, hydrochloric acid or nitric acid were also examined as treating agents. All of the compounds investigated, except ammonium nitrate, act to increase yield of charred fabrics. On the other hand, the compounds remarkably increasing tensile strength of charred fabrics seem to be restricted to the combinations of following acids and bases; Acid: surfuric acid, sulfurous acid, sulfamic acid and thiosulfuric acid Base: ammonia, urea, guanidine triethanolamine and anilineThe results are discussed in relation to the flameproofing mechanisms of cellulose.
