TL;DR: In this paper, the authors replace several misconceptions about turnover with guidelines for evidence-based retention management strategies focused on shared understanding of turnover, knowledge of cause-and-effect relationships, and the ability to adapt this knowledge and apply it to disparate contexts.
Abstract: Despite extensive scholarly research and organizational interest in employee turnover, there remains a gap between science and practice in this area. This article bridges this gap and replaces several misconceptions about turnover with guidelines for evidence-based retention management strategies focused on shared understanding of turnover, knowledge of cause-and-effect relationships, and the ability to adapt this knowledge and apply it to disparate contexts. We provide new tools such as an illustration of the relative strength of turnover predictors, a summary of evidence-based HR strategies for managing turnover, and a new framework for implementing evidence-based retention strategies. We conclude with a research agenda to build on this evidence-based understanding.

TL;DR: Simulation of a simple slip control braking system using slip and slip angle estimates for feedback demonstrates the effectiveness of the extended Kalman filter in providing adequate state estimates for advanced control of ground vehicles.
Abstract: Vehicle motion and tire force histories are estimated from an incomplete, noise-corrupted measurement set using an extended Kalman filter. A nine degree-of-freedom vehicle model and an analytic tire force model are used to simulate true vehicle motion, and a five degree-of-freedom vehicle model is used in the estimator. The filtered histories of forces and motion can be used to construct tire force models through off-line analysis, and both tire force estimates and state estimates are available for real time control. No prior knowledge of tire force characteristics or external factors that affect vehicle motion is required for the nonlinear estimation procedure. Simulation of a simple slip control braking system using slip and slip angle estimates for feedback demonstrates the effectiveness of the extended Kalman filter in providing adequate state estimates for advanced control of ground vehicles. >

TL;DR: The data suggest that VEGF may modulate endothelial cell-derived MMP activity by increasing the abundance of gelatinase A; disinhibiting gelatinases A by decreasing the abundanceof TIMP-2; and disinhibititing preexisting collagenase by reducing levels of TIMP -1.

TL;DR: The Group Style Instrument (GSI) was used by as discussed by the authors to examine interpersonal group processes for task groups and found that culturally diverse teams reported more self-oriented behaviors (SOBs) over time and performed better than nondiverse teams on two of the three projects.
Abstract: Members of more than 50 student groups involved in a team problem-solving environment were surveyed with the Group Style Instrument (GSI) to examine interpersonal group processes for task groups. Analyses of the GSI data resulted in team-oriented and self-oriented dimensions for both samples by comparing several factor models. In a second sample, more than 80 culturally diverse and nondiverse groups involved in a similar team problem-solving format completed the GSI at three points in time after they had completed team projects involving substantial collaborative member effort. For Sample 2, culturally diverse teams reported more self-oriented behaviors (SOBs) over time and performed better that nondiverse teams on two of the three projects. Periodic feedback regarding team performance and interpersonal processing was given to all teams. By the third team project, nondiverse teams performed better. Emphasis is given concerning the importance of managing the balance of team-orientated behaviors and SOBs wi...

TL;DR: In chick eyes recovering from form deprivation myopia, large increases in ChBF that preceded increases in choroidal thickness and were also more transient than the latter are demonstrated, raising the possibility that the increase in Ch BF may trigger or even drive the subsequent onset of choroids expansion, perhaps by facilitating the filling of the choroid lymphatic lacunae that are well developed in the avian eye.
