TL;DR: Experimental results show that the proposed movement algorithms for refugees can express the activities of refugees correctly and thus are suitable for virtual disaster simulation systems.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose movement algorithms for refugee agents in disaster areas for developing simulation systems of virtual disaster areas. Usually, refugees in disaster areas move to shelters for evacuation. However, such evacuation activities vary depending on the types of refugees. In our algorithms, we provide two features for representing the types of refugees: their possession of map information and their state of mind. Experimental results show that our proposed movement algorithms for refugees can express the activities of refugees correctly and thus are suitable for virtual disaster simulation systems.

TL;DR: In this paper, the sensing characteristics of amperometric NOx sensor using yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) and La-based perovskite-type oxide sensing-electrode (SE) was examined.
Abstract: Sensing characteristics of amperometric NOx sensor using yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) and La-based perovskite-type oxide sensing-electrode (SE) was examined. La0.8Sr0.2MO3(M = Co, Mn, Fe) and LaMnO3 was synthesized by means of spray pyrolysis method. The sensor attached with La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 as a SE showed the highest occupancy rate of NO2 response in total current as well as low current response to CO, C3H6, NH3 at 600°C in O2 (21%). The response was increased with increasing NO2 concentration in the examined range between 50 to 800 ppm. The comparison of sensing property between LaMnO3-SE and La0.8Sr0.2MnO3-SE showed the substitution Sr for La improved the NO2 response for the sensors.

TL;DR: In this article, a state estimation method for conventional consumer electronics goods that do not have network capabilities is presented to save home electricity consumption and adjust electricity consumption amount with electricity generation by prevailing home energy management system (HEMS).
Abstract: The state estimation method for conventional consumer electronics goods that do not have network capabilities is presented. The purpose of the research is to save home electricity consumption and to adjust electricity consumption amount with electricity generation by prevailing home energy management system (HEMS). The method consists of 2 parts, one is to classify the home appliances by harmonics component included in the electricity current, and the other is ON/OFF decision making tool by Wavelet analysis. The both technology can be applied to HEMS and estimate the state of the home appliances without additional network in home. The state includes ON/OFF switching, electricity consumption rate and so on.

TL;DR: R QP-M algorithm for efficiently searching k-ANN query results refines query results originally searched by RQP-S with subsequent k-NN queries, whose query points are chosen among vertices of a regular polygon inscribed in a circle searched previously.
Abstract: Searching Aggregate k-Nearest Neighbour k-ANN queries on remote spatial databases suffers from a large amount of communication. In order to overcome the difficulty, RQP-M algorithm for efficiently searching k-ANN query results is proposed in this paper. It refines query results originally searched by RQP-S with subsequent k-NN queries, whose query points are chosen among vertices of a regular polygon inscribed in a circle searched previously. Experimental results show that precision of sum k-NN query results is over 0.95 and Number of Requests NOR is at most 4.0. On the other hand, precision of max k-NN query results is over 0.95 and NOR is at most 5.6. RQP-M brings 0.04-0.20 increase in PRECISION of sum k-NN query results and over 0.40 increase in that of max k-NN query results, respectively, in comparison with RQP-S.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the Mossbauer spectrum of Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica D.Don) and Japanese cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa endlicher) to obtain information on the chemical state of the iron species contained in them.
Abstract: Several iron-rich wood samples were investigated using Mossbauer spectroscopy to obtain information on the chemical state of the iron species contained in them. The Mossbauer spectrum of Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica D. Don) wood containing iron species that originated from rusted nails exhibited a symmetrical doublet from a high-spin Fe(III) species, which is expected to be γ-FeOOH (lepidocrocite). Mossbauer absorption attributable to high-spin Fe(III) was observed for ancient buried wood samples of both Japanese cedar and Japanese cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa Endlicher). Moreover, Mossbauer measurement indicated that the ancient buried Japanese cedar also possessed high-spin Fe(II) species.
