13 Aug 2014TL;DR: In this paper, dual and multi-modulator projector display systems and techniques are disclosed, including a controller, a first modulator, and a second modulator receiving the blurred halftone image and rendering a pulse width modulated image which may be projected to form the desired screen image, correcting for misalignment between the first and second modulators and calibrating the projector system.
Abstract: Dual and multi-modulator projector display systems and techniques are disclosed. In one embodiment, a projector display system comprises a light source; a controller, a first modulator, receiving light from the light source and rendering a halftone image of said the input image; a blurring optical system that blurs said halftone image with a Point Spread Function (PSF); and a second modulator receiving the blurred halftone image and rendering a pulse width modulated image which may be projected to form the desired screen image. Systems and techniques for forming a binary halftone image from input image, correcting for misalignment between the first and second modulators and calibrating the projector system—e.g. over time—for continuous image improvement are also disclosed.

30 May 2003TL;DR: In this paper, a method for generating audio information is proposed, where a set of subband signals each having one or more spectral components representing spectral content of an audio signal is extracted from an input signal and a modified subband signal is generated by substituting the synthesized spectral components for corresponding zero-valued spectral components.
Abstract: A method for generating audio information comprises: receiving an input signal and obtaining therefrom a set of subband signals each having one or more spectral components representing spectral content of an audio signal; identifying within the set of subband signals a particular subband signal in which one or more spectral components have a zero value and are quantized by a quantizer having a minimum quantizing level; generating one or more synthesized spectral components that correspond to the one or more zero-valued spectral components in the particular subband signal and that are scaled according to a scaling envelope based upon the minimum quantizing level; generating a modified set of subband signals by substituting the synthesized spectral components for corresponding zero-valued spectral components in the particular subband signal; and generating the audio information by applying a synthesis filterbank to the modified set of subband signals.

05 Dec 2014TL;DR: In this article, a display system comprising of a set of light sources that emit frequencies that are capable of exciting the set of quantum dots is described. And the display system further comprises a controller that receives input image data to be rendered by the display and sends out control signals to various components, such as a starting polarizer, a mid-polarizer and a finishing polarizer.
Abstract: A display system comprising a set of light sources that emit a set of frequencies that are capable of exciting a set of quantum dots is disclosed. The display system further comprises a controller that receives input image data to be rendered by the display system and sends out control signals to various components. In one embodiment, the display system may further comprise one, two or more modulators that illuminate the set of quantum dots to form a final rendered image. In one embodiment, the set of light sources optionally comprise a light of substantially uniform polarization - e.g., laser light sources - and may be modulated according to control signal from said controller. Other optional components may comprise a starting polarizer, a mid-polarizer, a first laser light filter, a finishing polarizer and a final laser light filter/reflector.

08 Sep 2008TL;DR: In this paper, a family of rate allocation and rate control methods that utilize advanced processing of past and future frame/field picture statistics and are designed to operate with one or more coding passes are described.
Abstract: Embodiments feature families of rate allocation and rate control methods that utilize advanced processing of past and future frame/field picture statistics and are designed to operate with one or more coding passes. At least two method families include: a family of methods for a rate allocation with picture look-ahead; and a family of methods for average bit rate (ABR) control methods. At least two other methods for each method family are described. For the first family of methods, some methods may involve intra rate control. For the second family of methods, some methods may involve high complexity ABR control and/or low complexity ABR control. These and other embodiments can involve any of the following: spatial coding parameter adaptation, coding prediction, complexity processing, complexity estimation, complexity filtering, bit rate considerations, quality considerations, coding parameter allocation, and/or hierarchical prediction structures, among others.

17 Dec 2013TL;DR: In this paper, it is determined whether a frame comprising a floating window exists in a pair of LE and RE frames in the sequence of pairs of LE-and RE-frames, and if so, depth information for one or more pixels in a plurality of pixels in the portion of the frame covered by the floating window is determined.
Abstract: 3D images may be represented by a sequence of received pairs of LE and RE frames. It is determined whether a frame comprising a floating window exists in a pair of LE and RE frames in the sequence of pairs of LE and RE frames. If so, depth information for one or more pixels in a plurality of pixels in a portion of the frame covered by the floating window is determined. Such depth information may be generated based on depth information extracted from one or more frames in one or more pairs of LE and RE frames in the sequence of pairs of LE and RE frames that are either previous or subsequent to the pair of LE and RE frames.
