TL;DR: A new scalable hashing algorithm with joint optimization of search accuracy and search time simultaneously is developed, which significantly outperforms several state-of-the-art hashing approaches.
Abstract: Similarity search, namely, finding approximate nearest neighborhoods, is the core of many large scale machine learning or vision applications. Recently, many research results demonstrate that hashing with compact codes can achieve promising performance for large scale similarity search. However, most of the previous hashing methods with compact codes only model and optimize the search accuracy. Search time, which is an important factor for hashing in practice, is usually not addressed explicitly. In this paper, we develop a new scalable hashing algorithm with joint optimization of search accuracy and search time simultaneously. Our method generates compact hash codes for data of general formats with any similarity function. We evaluate our method using diverse data sets up to 1 million samples (e.g., web images). Our comprehensive results show the proposed method significantly outperforms several state-of-the-art hashing approaches.

TL;DR: In this paper, a sparse dyadic mode (308) for partitioning macroblocks along edges in a depth map is provided as well as techniques for trilateral (or bilateral) filtering of depth maps that may include adaptive selection between filters sensitive to changes in video intensity and/or changes in depth.
Abstract: Several implementations relate, for example, to depth encoding and/or filtering for 3D video (3DV) coding formats. A sparse dyadic mode (308) for partitioning macroblocks (MBs) along edges in a depth map is provided as well as techniques for trilateral (or bilateral) filtering of depth maps that may include adaptive selection between filters sensitive to changes in video intensity and/or changes in depth. One implementation partitions a depth picture, and then refines the partitions based on a corresponding image picture. Another implementation filters a portion of a depth picture based on values for a range of pixels in the portion. For a given pixel in the portion that is being filtered, the filter weights a value of a particular pixel in the range by a weight that is based on one or more of location distance, depth difference, and image difference.

TL;DR: In this article, the decoding of multi-channel audio signals representing multidimensional sound fields delivered by one or more delivery channels, wherein the complexity of the decoding is roughly proportional to the number of channels used to present the decoded signal which may differ from the total number of delivery channels.
Abstract: The invention relates in general to the reproducing of multi-channel signals. More particularly, the invention relates to the decoding of multi-channel audio signals representing multidimensional sound fields delivered by one or more delivery channels, wherein the complexity of the decoding is roughly proportional to the number of channels used to present the decoded signal which may differ from the number of delivery channels.

TL;DR: Improved tools for authoring and rendering audio reproduction data are provided in this article, which allow audio reproducibility data to be generalized for a wide variety of reproduction environments by creating metadata for audio objects with reference to speaker zones.
Abstract: Improved tools for authoring and rendering audio reproduction data are provided. Some such authoring tools allow audio reproduction data to be generalized for a wide variety of reproduction environments. Audio reproduction data may be authored by creating metadata for audio objects. The metadata may be created with reference to speaker zones. During the rendering process, the audio reproduction data may be reproduced according to the reproduction speaker layout of a particular reproduction environment.
