TL;DR: The three dimensional structure of a crystalline complex containing actino-mycin D and deoxyguanosine has shed light on the stereochemistry of actinomycin binding to DNA.
Abstract: The three dimensional structure of a crystalline complex containing actino-mycin D and deoxyguanosine has shed light on the stereochemistry of actino-mycin binding to DNA. The phenoxa-zone ring system of actinomycin intercalates into the DNA helix, while deoxyguanosine residues interact with both cyclic peptides through specific hydrogen bonds.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of angular velocity variation on the shock velocity were shown graphically, and it was found that an increase in the initial angular velocity leads to a decrease in the velocity.
Abstract: Similarity solutions describing the flow behind a diverging strong cylindrical shock wave, advancing into a nonuniform gas having solid body rotation, are studied. The effects of the angular velocity variation on the shock velocity are shown graphically. It is found that an increase in the initial angular velocity leads to a decrease in the shock velocity.

TL;DR: In this paper, the extended fine structure of L-absorption edges of rhenium was investigated using 40 cm and 100 cm curved-crystal spectrographs, both of the transmission type, and it was found that the fine structure extends upto several hundred electron volts on the high energy side of the principal absorption discontinuities.

TL;DR: The L-absorption spectra of Ta, W and Re have been recorded photographically using a newly constructed one meter curved crystal spectrograph of transmission type as mentioned in this paper, and a pronounced absorption maximum usually called a ''white line'' has been detected both at the LII and LIII absorption discontinuities of these elements.

TL;DR: In this paper, the same authors used 3,3′-diaminobenzidine to extract selenium from the organic phase photometrically by complexation with 3, 3′-Diaminibenzidine 3.5 and 2-thenoyltrifluoroacetone-xylene.
Abstract: Selenium (IV) can be quantitatively extracted at trace concentrations with 2-thenoyltrifluoroacetone-xylene (0.03 M) at pH 1.0–4.5. It is determined in the organic phase photometrically by complexation with 3,3′-diaminobenzidine. The system conforms to Beer's law in the concentration range of 22–132 μg/ml of selenium. The complex is stable. Salting-out agents have no effect on extraction. Selenium can be extracted and determined in one operation in the presence of several elements.

TL;DR: In this article, the contribution of one-photon exchange to pp and πp inelastic cross sections at high energies was calculated. And the interference of this amplitude with the purely strong amplitude can contribute about a millibarn to σ(ab) - σ a b) at Serpukhov energies.

TL;DR: In this article, similar solutions describing the flow behind a plane hydromagnetic shock propagating with a constant velocity into a uniform ideal gas at rest in the presence of a transverse magnetic field are obtained.
Abstract: Similarity solutions describing the flow behind a plane hydromagnetic shock propagating with a constant velocity into a uniform ideal gas at rest in the presence of a transverse magnetic field are obtained. The gas is assumed to be infinitely electrically conducting, inviscid and non-heat conducting. The gain in the total energy of the flow between the shock and the inner expanding surface is assumed to be time-dependent. The variations of the percentages of the magnetic, internal and kinetic energies with the strength of the shock are studied. It is shown that there exists two values of the strength of the shock at which equipartition of the internal and kinetic energies of the flow between the shock and the inner expanding surface can occur.

TL;DR: In this paper, a new method was devised for the rapid solvent extraction of silver with diluted tributyl phosphate and 40% TBP in butanol quantitatively extracts silver (49.8μg) from 1M nitric acid that is 2M in lithium nitrate as salting-out agent.
Abstract: A new method is devised for the rapid solvent extraction of silver with diluted tributyl phosphate. Thus 40% TBP in butanol quantitatively extracts silver (49.8μg) from 1M nitric acid that is 2M in lithium nitrate as salting-out agent. Silver is stripped with dilute ammonia and is determined photometrically at 495 ran as its red-violet complex withp-diethylaminobenzylidenerhodanine. The effect of acidity, varying TBP concentration and salting-out agent was studied. The probable composition of the extractable species is thought to be AgNO3·(TBP)3 or HAg(NO3)2(TBP)3. Silver can be extracted in presence of a large number of elements with which it is associated in alloys, minerals or fission products. The method is simple, selective and rapid and needs only 30 minutes for the separation and determination.

TL;DR: The Deccan trap flows around Mahape, Mumbra and Kalyan have been demarcated into zones based on the megascopic texture and the degree of abundance of vesicles and amygdules.
Abstract: The volcanic sequences in three vertical sections (starting from m.s.l.) of the Deccan trap flows around Mahape, Mumbra and Kalyan have been demarcated into zones, mainly based on the megascopic texture and the degree of abundance of vesicles and amygdules. Petrographic, mineralogical and modal study of twelve samples indicate that the basalts are tholeiitic and are characterised by lateral inhomogeneities. Petrochemical data are suggestive of limited differentiation, a hyperferric iron enrichment, a Hawaiian trend and an affinity to alkalic and high-alumina basalt.

TL;DR: In this paper, the second order elasticity of an isotropic, infinite medium of compressible material having an elliptic hole and acted upon by a tensile force at infinity is analyzed.
Abstract: Analytic expressions for the second order elasticity case of the problem of an isotropic, infinite medium of compressible material having an elliptic hole and acted upon by a tensile force at infinity are obtained. These results are improvements on the classical elasticity theory in which the elastic constants do not play any role for determination of the stresses. The expressions for the second order effects in the cases of a circular hole and a slit along the major axis have been obtained as particular cases.

TL;DR: In this paper, the first phase of a program to develop tantalum integrated circuits was reported, where both resistors and capacitors were formed in the same process; they are stable and reliable.
Abstract: This paper reports the first phase of a programme to develop tantalum integrated circuits. With tantalum, both resistors and capacitors are formed in the same process; they are stable and reliable. They possess compatibility for integration with silicon chips; tantalum active elements are also feasible.Basic steps in the fabrication of resistors are: (a) sputtering of tantalum, (b) pattern generation using photolithographic process, (c) thermal evaporation of gold for contacts, and (d) anodic oxidation. Facilities for all of these steps have been indigenously created. A diode sputtering unit has been constructed using a 100 mm square tantalum plate as a cathode; it gives a deposit thickness within ± 6 per cent over a central area of 80 mm square. Line widths up to 100 microns have been precisely etched through the photolithographic process.Resistor values are adjusted by anodic oxidation using 0·01 per cent citric acid solution. With the present set-up using a d.c. Wheatstone bridge, values with deviation...
