TL;DR: In this paper, the consequences of spontaneous breaking of rotational symmetry are investigated in a field theory model for deformed nuclei, based on simple separable interactions, and the crucial role of the Ward-Takahashi identities in describing the rotational states is emphasized.
Abstract: The consequences of the spontaneous breaking of rotational symmetry are investigated in a field theory model for deformed nuclei, based on simple separable interactions. The crucial role of the Ward-Takahashi identities in describing the rotational states is emphasized. We show explicitly how the rotor picture emerges from the isoscalar Goldstone modes and how the two-rotor model emerges from the isovector scissors modes. As an application of the formalism, we discuss the $M1$ sum rules in deformed nuclei and make the connection to empirical information.

TL;DR: This paper developed a dynamic stochastic general equilibrium model to account for the differences in fiscal policy stance over the business cycle between developed and emerging market countries, and, in particular, for the volatile and procyclical government consumption and transfer payment in emerging markets.
Abstract: This study develops a dynamic stochastic general equilibrium model to account for the differences in fiscal policy stance over the business cycle between developed and emerging market countries, and, in particular, for the volatile and procyclical government consumption and transfer payment in emerging market countries. Two models with and without default option in sovereign borrowings replicate the contrasting cyclical behaviors indicating that the default option is responsible for procyclical fiscal policy. Further, augmented model with third-party bailouts, together with the stochastic trend income process, successfully predicts high volatilities of fiscal expenditures. These imply that procyclical fiscal policy, entailed by default option, may exacerbate the business cycle in emerging market countries.

TL;DR: In this article, the radiocarbon dating method was applied to the study of Japanese traditional wooden buildings, including the Main Hall of Banna-ji Temple (Buddhist building), Sekisui-in of Kozan-ji temple (noble house), Hakogi-ke house (farmhouse), and Kawai-ke houses (Townhouse).
Abstract: The radiocarbon dating method was applied to the study of Japanese traditional wooden buildings. The traditional Japanese architecture studied includes the Main Hall of Banna-ji Temple (Buddhist building), Sekisui-in of Kozan-ji Temple (noble house), Hakogi-ke house (farmhouse), and Kawai-ke house (townhouse). 14 C dating proved useful as a research method to better understand the history of these buildings and Japanese architecture as a whole. TL;DR: In this article, the authors address the nature of technology marketing in comparison with the marketing of other goods and discuss key factors of success for higher licensing performance based on a questionnaire survey and the case analysis of TLOs in Japan.
Abstract: Technology licensing can be interpreted as a marketing activity that includes setting a target user, demonstrating the value of technology, negotiating prices, planning effective promotion, and so forth. Many companies as well as university Technology Licensing Organizations (TLOs) that pursue profit from technological assets, recognize the significance of the marketing perspective on technology licensing. However, not all companies and TLOs are able to achieve a satisfactory performance in their activities. This is mainly because the marketing of technology needs a different approach from those of the marketing of consumer goods, service goods, and industrial goods. Technology as knowledge is invisible and highly uncertain in the process of value realization, and this requires idiosyncratic marketing approaches. In this paper, we address the nature of technology marketing in comparison with the marketing of other goods and discuss key factors of success for higher licensing performance based on a questionnaire survey and the case analysis of TLOs in Japan. Major findings of the research show the importance of selecting a license target in the early stage, enhancing the visibility of the technology, and presenting the feasibility and usability of the technology in the context of the licensees' business field. We will further discuss the difference in approaches depending on the type of technology.

TL;DR: This is the first demonstration of the sharing of females in non-human primates, and shed light on the evolutionary theory of cooperation, in wild stump-tailed macaques.
Abstract: Cooperation, or the act of benefiting others at the cost of the benefactor’s fitness, has been a central issue in evolutionary theory. Non-human animals sometimes show coalitions or male-male “cooperation” to confront a male rival and challenge the rank hierarchy. Here we observed novel types of coalitions in wild stump-tailed macaques; multiple males actively shared the mating opportunities, i.e., a male copulated with a female, while his ally waited his turn and guarded them. Our mathematical simulations revealed that lack of estrous signs, as well as large numbers of males in a group, possibly enhance facultative sharing of females. This is the first demonstration of the sharing of females in non-human primates, and shed light on the evolutionary theory of cooperation.
