Inmigrantes venezolanos en el contexto ecuatoriano: análisis de las relaciones interculturales

Abstract: Currently, Ecuador receives immigrants from several continents. Referring to Venezuelan nationality, at the beginning of 2018 approximately 547,000 Venezuelans entered Ecuador through the Colombian border that is equivalent to a daily average between 2,700 and 3,000 men, women and children. With positions in favor and against, Venezuelans have faced dissimilar difficulties in the Ecuadorian territory for their social integration; hence, the objective of this research is to analyze the intercultural relations of the Venezuelan immigrants in Ecuador. This manuscript has a quantitative approach, considering the questionnaire for “Intercultural Relations in Plural Societies” (version: Ecuadorian group) found on the official website of the Center for Applied Cross-cultural Research. 190 Venezuelans that reside in the cities of Quito and Guayaquil participated in the survey. The results showed that the biggest problems are linked to acts of perceived social discrimination and what is linked to their safety. The sociocultural competence used to inquire Venezuelans about their attitude to integrate showed significant values of interest and willingness to become part of the Ecuadorian society.

Impact on the Information Security Management Due to the Use of Social Networks in a Public Organization in Ecuador

Abstract: It analyzed the management for the dissemination of government information in social networks and security management models applied to communicate with society. The problem is the lack of a model that integrates a security scheme to expose information from a government organization on social networks. The objective is to define a generic algorithm prototype for security policies application. It used the deductive method and exploratory research to analyze the information of the reference articles. It turned out the following: Guidelines for defining information security policies, General scheme of information security policies, Mathematical description to measure impact, and Generic algorithm prototype for the security policies application using flowchart techniques. It was concluded that for the exposure and socialization of information from a government organization to society, it is recommended to have alternatives that allow mitigating the risks, threats, and vulnerabilities of information such as integrated security models, security policies, responsible, technologies, and adequate cryptographic algorithms to improve the confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of the information based on its mission, vision, strategic objectives of each government organization, and legal provisions such as the LOTAIP 2017 among others.

Situación actual del Ecuador como territorio libre de transgénicos

Abstract: En este articulo se hace una revision de las acciones hechas por el movimiento anti-transgenico en el Ecuador desde que la Constitucion lo declaro como un pais “libre de cultivos y semillas transgenicas”, y se contrasta con las acciones del Estado ecuatoriano Se explica que los movimientos de la sociedad civil escogieron como una de las estrategias para salvaguardar la condicion de pais libre de transgenicos, llevar a cabo un proceso de monitoreo participativo de cuatro cultivos que potencialmente podrian ser transgenicos y estar contaminados geneticamente, por ser los mas cultivados en el mundo: maiz, soya, canola y alfalfa Se encontraron resultados positivos para soya y alfalfa, lo que alerta de la necesidad de desarrollar politicas publicas de vigilancia para mantener al pais sin transgenicos

Abstract: The cult of the body phenomena is ever more present in contemporary complex societies; feeding habits and physical exercise have become the two main paths for pursuing hegemonic guiding principles for the body. This article leads off with the concept of the body as a symbolic reality, a place where society and culture manifest themselves, as well as feeding habits as a social fact. We analyze the phenomena of megarexia as a reflection of the radicalization and distortion of what is desirable as well as society’s contradictions and their repercussions in dietary guidelines.

Design of telemedicine management system in Ecuador

Abstract: In Ecuador, the ambulatory emergency system has a numbered paper handwriting information registry procedure, which means that the medical staff knows about the patient condition after his arrival to the health facility, in certain cases this could critically affect the quality of attention. This article details the proposal of a system which transmit detailed patient health status information and also his vital signs during the ambulance transfer, developing simultaneously a hardware and software adjusted to the requirements of the paramedics. The system is divided in three parts, firstly a prototype that consist in a touchscreen computer for data input, connected to a pulse oximeter sensor for live broadcast of pulse rate and oxygen saturation. In second place a management and database server software for emergency events registry. And finally an easy integration system monitoring app for mobile devices. The link of the ambulance to main server and medical entities is achieved through LTE network, with the appropriate data security measures. The project have the goal to actively support the emergency personal for the opportune attention of any trauma or pathology that a patient present.
