23 Apr 2007TL;DR: A vehicle occupant restraint device has a gas bag module with a housing and a free exit end, the gas bag moving into its fully deployed position with the free exiting end first.
Abstract: A vehicle occupant restraint device has a gas bag module with a housing and a gas bag having a free exit end, the gas bag moving into its fully deployed position with the free exit end first. At least one control element is provided which engages the gas bag and forces the gas bag to extend generally in an arc shape from the housing up to the free exit end in the deployed state.

16 Dec 2002TL;DR: In this paper, an apparatus for associating tires with tire locations of a vehicle includes two sensors, each sensor having an associated tire, and each sensor transmits an associated sensor identification in response to the receipt of an interrogation signal.
Abstract: An apparatus for associating tires with tire locations of a vehicle includes two sensors, each sensor having an associated tire. Each sensor transmits an associated sensor identification in response to receipt of an interrogation signal. The interrogation signal is provided so that the two sensors transmit at different rates. A controller is responsive to receipt of transmitted identification signals for associating each sensor with a tire location and thereby associating the tires with tire locations of the vehicle.

14 Oct 1975TL;DR: In this paper, an improved safety device for protecting an occupant of a vehicle during an accident includes a confinement which is inflated to an expanded condition to restrain movement of an occupant, and a fluid source is actuated to provide a high-velocity fluid stream which cooperates with a nozzle to draw a relatively large volume of air into the confinement.
Abstract: An improved safety device for protecting an occupant of a vehicle during an accident includes a confinement which is inflated to an expanded condition to restrain movement of an occupant. To effect inflation of the confinement, a fluid source is actuated to provide a high-velocity fluid stream which cooperates with a nozzle to draw a relatively large volume of air into the confinement. .Iadd.

17 May 1968TL;DR: In this article, a VEHICLE SAFETY APPARATUS PROTECTS an OCCUPANT of a VESTER DURING A COLLISION.
Abstract: A VEHICLE SAFETY APPARATUS PROTECTS AN OCCUPANT OF A VEHICLE DURING A COLLISION. THE SAFETY APPARTUS INCLUDES A CONFINEMENT WHICH IS INFLATED BY THE FLOW FROM A FLUID RESERVOIR AND, WHEN INFLATED, RESTRAINS MOVEMENT OF AN OCCUPANT OF THE VEHICLE DURING THE COLLISION. THE RESERVOIR INCLUDES AN OPENING THEREIN AND A PLUG MEMBER IS LOCATED IN THE OPENING. THE PLUG MEMBER HAS A FLUID PASSAGEWAY EXTENDING THERETHROUGH AND MEANS FOR BLOCKING THE FLOW OF FLUID FROM THE RESERVOIR THROUGH THE FLUID PASSAGEWAY. AN EXPLOSIVE IS LOCATED IN THE FLUID PASSAGEWAY AND ON DETONATION PROVIDES FOR FLOW OF FLUID THROUGH THE FLUID PASSAGEWAY FROM THE RESERVOIR TO THE CONFINEMENT.

03 Nov 1997TL;DR: An attachment apparatus for attachment of a vehicle accessory to a structure in a vehicle including a mount, a beam, and a clamping member is described in this paper, where the clamping members effectively clamping the vehicle structure there between.
Abstract: An attachment apparatus for attachment of a vehicle accessory to a structure in a vehicle including a mount, a beam, and a clamping member. The mount is associated with the vehicle accessory. The beam includes a first end associated with the mount, a second end, and a substantially longitudinal slot therebetween. The slot includes a proximal end near the first end of the beam, a distal end near the second end of the beam, and opposing sidewalls therebetween. One of the opposing walls having an opening to facilitate receipt of the vehicle structure into the longitudinal slot. The clamping member is movably positionable along at least a portion of the beam between the first and second ends thereof. The clamping member effectively clamping the vehicle structure therebetween.
