28 Sep 2000TL;DR: In this paper, a rack bar of a power steering unit for a vehicle has improved bending strength, and quenching is applied to the rod portion and to the rack portion under different conditions.
Abstract: A rack bar of a power steering unit for a vehicle has improved bending strength. The rack bar includes a rod portion which fits slidably into an oil seal attached to a cylinder portion of a power cylinder, and a rack portion which is formed with the rod portion through a connecting portion and which meshes with a pinion. Quenching is applied the rod portion and to the rack portion, preferably under different conditions. The quenching applied to the rack portion also is applied to at least a portion of the connecting portion.

03 Dec 2003TL;DR: A gas bag restraint device as mentioned in this paper consists of a gas bag module which has a covering cap tearing open on inflation of the gas bag, and a ring-shaped, peripherally closed tear line of radially outwardly adjoining sections of the covering cap.
Abstract: A gas bag restraint device comprises a gas bag module which has a gas bag and a covering cap tearing open on inflation of the gas bag. The covering cap covers a ring-shaped outlet opening for the gas bag and has a central section, which in an opened state of the gas bag module is surrounded by the outlet opening. The central section is delimited by a ring-shaped, peripherally closed tear line of radially outwardly adjoining sections of the covering cap, the tear line adjoining an inner edge of the outlet opening.

12 Dec 2008TL;DR: In this article, a carrier element has a connecting unit inserted into an opening of the carrier element to allow detaching of the unit from the element in a pre-assembly condition of the module.
Abstract: The module (10) has a connecting unit (12) inserted into an opening of a carrier element. The retaining unit allows detaching of the unit from the element in a pre-assembly condition of the module, and disallows detaching of the unit from the element in an assembly condition of the module. The module is transferred from the pre-assembly condition by low pressure of a connecting unit (14) into the unit (12) in the assembly condition and by rotating the unit (14) relative to the unit (12) from the assembly condition back into the pre-assembly condition.

05 Aug 2004TL;DR: In this paper, an improved ball joint assembly includes a ball stud having a head end portion which is at least partially enclosed by a housing and a contact member having an end portion that engages the head end of the ball stud prior to the occurrence of a predetermined amount of wear in the ball joint assemblies.
Abstract: An improved ball joint assembly includes a ball stud having a head end portion which is at least partially enclosed by a housing. A contact member has an end portion which engages the head end portion of the ball stud prior to the occurrence of a predetermined amount of wear in the ball joint assembly. The contact member and head end portion of the ball stud are spaced apart upon the occurrence of the predetermined amount of wear in the ball joint assembly. Prior to the occurrence of the predetermined amount of wear in the ball joint assembly, an electrical circuit through the contact member and head end portion of the ball stud is closed. Upon the occurrence of the predetermined amount of wear in the ball joint assembly, the electrical circuit is opened.

04 Feb 2000TL;DR: In this paper, the surface layer of wood veneer is separated from the heating wires by a layer of high thermal conductivity, which can be a glass fiber reinforced plastic with a filler material.
Abstract: The surface layer of wood veneer (1) is separated from the heating wires (3) by a layer (2) of high thermal conductivity, which can be a glass fiber reinforced plastic with a filler material of high thermal conductivity. The conductive layer and the veneer surface are prepared as two half casings and are secured to the rim (6) with adhesive. The half-casings can have an inner layer, e.g. of wood veneer, to improve the strength of the adhesive joint.
