TL;DR: This review addresses some digital soil mapping techniques that enable faster production of soil surveys, beyond fitting continuous spatial distribution of soil properties into discrete soil categories, in accordance with the inherent complexity of soil variation, increasing the accuracy of spatial information.
Abstract: In Brazil, soil surveys in more detailed scale are still scarce and necessary to more adequately support the decision makers for planning soil and environment activities in small areas. Hence, this review addresses some digital soil mapping techniques that enable faster production of soil surveys, beyond fitting continuous spatial distribution of soil properties into discrete soil categories, in accordance with the inherent complexity of soil variation, increasing the accuracy of spatial information. The technique focused here is knowledge-based in expert systems, under fuzzy logic and vector of similarity. For that, a contextualization of each tool in the soil types and properties prediction is provided, as well as some options of knowledge extraction techniques. Such tools have reduced the inconsistency and costs associated with the traditional manual processes, relying on a relatively low density of soil samples. On the other hand, knowledge-based technique is not automatic, and just as the traditional soil survey, the knowledge of soil-landscape relationships is irreplaceable.

Abstract: This review follows on from two previous ones on the subject covering the periods from 1943 to 1976 and 1976 to 1987. They are all based on the chemical analyses of liver or other animal tissues or fluids and/or experimentation, complemented or not by analyses of pasture and soil samples. They do not include studies based only on chemical analyses of plant and soil samples. Regarding macroelements, noteworthy are the studies on phosphorus deficiency, the most important mineral deficiency shown previusly. Copper and cobalt deficiencies were the most frequent microelement deficiencies. There were several reports on copper poisoning in sheep. Subclinical deficiency of zinc was frequently verified. Subclinical manganese deficiency was rarely recognized and to the contrary, elevated values of this element occasionaly were found. There was little data on selenium, so its importance in Brazil remains unclear; nutritional miopathy was diagnosed for the first time in calves, but only once. Low iron values were found in the liver samples of cattle affected by enzootic hematuria. This is easily explained by the continuous loss of blood leading to severe anemia. High iron values were found in the liver samples from some areas; sometimes associated with low copper values. Among the investigations made during the last decade, special mention should be made of two diseases in which the etiology has not yet been established. These are "ronca" (snoring disease) and "doenca do peito inchado" (brisket disease), both of which have a chronic course in adult cattle. In "ronca", liver copper is very low and iron particularly high. Presumably the latter is caused by poor utilization due to the copper deficiency. In "doenca do peito inchado", the liver values for manganese and cobalt were low and those for iron very high. In this case, the high iron probably comes from the severe liver congestion caused by the chronic cardiac insufficiency seen in this disease. Mention also should be made of "morte subita" (sudden death) in cattle in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. In this case, liver copper levels were extremely low and no poisonous plant could be blamed. Congenital hypomyelinogenesis in calves was diagnosed in the same area. The mineral deficiencies diagnosed during the period of this review are shown on a map, together with the respective bibliographic references.

TL;DR: The inhibitory profile of 7h against a panel of patient-derived tumor cell lines was established, demonstrating selective growth inhibition of EGFR related cells at 10 μM among aPanel of 30 cell lines derived from colon, melanoma, breast, bladder, kidney, prostate, pancreas and ovary tumors.
Abstract: Clinical data acquired over the last decade on non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treatment with small molecular weight Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) inhibitors have shown significant influence of EGFR point mutations and in-frame deletions on clinical efficacy. Identification of small molecules capable of inhibiting the clinically relevant EGFR mutant forms is desirable, and novel chemical scaffolds might provide knowledge regarding selectivity among EGFR forms and shed light on new strategies to overcome current clinical limitations. Design, synthesis, docking studies and in vitro evaluation of N-(3-(3-phenylureido)quinoxalin-6-yl) acrylamide derivatives (7a-m) against EGFR mutant forms are described. Compounds 7h and 7l were biochemically active in the nanomolar range against EGFRwt and EGFRL858R. Molecular docking and reaction enthalpy calculations have shown the influence of the combination of reversible and covalent binding modes with EGFR on the inhibitory activity. The inhibitory profile of 7h against a panel of patient-derived tumor cell lines was established, demonstrating selective growth inhibition of EGFR related cells at 10 μM among a panel of 30 cell lines derived from colon, melanoma, breast, bladder, kidney, prostate, pancreas and ovary tumors.

TL;DR: The parasite community of P. saltator was dominated by species with high prevalence values, that composed a high number of associations, thus, is considered closer to the interactive type.
Abstract: Fifty-five specimens of bluefish, Pomatomus saltator (Linnaeus, 1766), collected at Cabo Frio (23oS, 42oW), State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, between March 1995 and November 1995, were necropsied to study their infracommunities of metazoan parasites. Sixteen species of metazoan parasites were collected. All fish were parasitized by one or more metazoan. The digeneans were the majority of the parasite specimens collected, with 44.2%, followed by the helminth larval stages (cestodes, acanthocephalans, and nematodes) with 40.6%. The Simpson index for all parasite species was 0.097, indicating lack of dominance by any species in the parasite community. Microcotyle pomatomi Goto, 1899 showed the higher frequency of dominance and mean relative dominance. The parasite species of P. saltator showed the typical overdispersed pattern of distribution. The majority of parasite species showed positive correlation between the host's total body length and prevalence or parasite abundance. Two species, Brachyphallus parvus (Manter, 1947) and Phocanema sp. have differences in their prevalences and abundances in relation to sex of the hosts. The mean diversity in the infracommunities of P. saltator was H'=1.243±0.521, with correlation with the host's total length and without difference between male and female fish. The components of the parasite community of P. saltator showed overall positive association. All pairs confonned by ectoparasites and adult endoparasites species showed signiticant positive association or covariation between their abundances. Five pairs of endoparasites larval species showed positive association or covariation, and two pairs, showed negative association and covariation. The parasite community of P. saltator was dominated by species with high prevalence values, that composed a high number of associations, thus, is considered closer to the interactive type.
