TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the HEC-HMS model to estimate the extent and depth of flooding in the Modi River Basin in Nepal and evaluated the efficiency of model based on calculated statistical parameters (NSE, R) and comparing the simulated and observed discharge flows.
Abstract: 534 Abstract— With the development of floodplains and climate change, the risks associated with flooding have increased, leading to increased flooding in floodplains. According to data from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Nepal ranks 20th among countries in the world in the number of people affected by floods each year. Assessing the extent and depth of flooding has always been one of the main goals of water resources managers. This research aims to develop the Hydrological Engineering Center Hydrological Modeling System (HEC-HMS) and Hydrological Engineering Center River Analysis System (HECRAS) models for the Modi River Basin in Nepal. HEC-HMS is one of the hydrological models used to simulate the process of runoff and rainfall in different geographical areas. In this study, the precipitation data of seven meteorological stations and flow data of the hydrological station within the Modi River basin were used. The calibration was performed using data from 2006 to 2010 and was consequently validated using data from 2011 to 2013 at a daily time step. The efficiency of model was evaluated based on calculated statistical parameters (NSE, R) and comparing the simulated and observed discharge flows. The performance of this model during calibration was very good, with the coefficient of determination R = 0.81, Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency NSE = 0.78. Similarly, the performance of the model during the validation period was also very good, R = 0.80, NSE = 0.78. Based on these performance results, the HEC-HMS model made a satisfactory prediction of water flow in the Modi Basin. In addition, the flood map produced by HEC-RAS was used to study the flood range and its characteristics. The Modi River basin is dominated by forest lands and hence the flood plain mapping showed the inundation of forest and trees at the lower reach of basin. It indicated that the future settlement at the vicinity of river has been found to be at high risk of flood. The study also showed that the structure of hydropower station also lies in flood hazardous zone. The model can be used as a reference for water resources management and flood control in the Modi River Basin, and can also be applied to other river basins.

TL;DR: The aim of Network Intrusion Detection Systems is to detect anomaly patterns either while the attack is unfolding or after evidence that an intrusion occurred.
Abstract: The security of Network Systems is ravaged by attacks on Systems in a bid to gain unauthorized access into the network system. The aim of Network Intrusion Detection Systems is to detect anomaly patterns either while the attack is unfolding or after evidence that an intrusion occurred. The demand and crave for Internet usage have surged over the years and will continue to rise, which also puts gadgets that are connected to Networks at risk of attacks by Cyber Terrorist and hackers. This problem is not limited to individuals or Corporations alone but also E-Governments and Enterprises, despite billions of dollars allocated to Cyber Security, computer systems and networks do not give a 100 percent guarantee against Cyber-attacks. It is against this backdrop that we must establish Network Intrusion Detection Systems to reveal and counter Cyber-attacks on Networks and Computer Systems. TL;DR: This paper presents a structured process of locating input fields on the form, scanning the input data, processing the data and entering the data to the final database using CRNN(Convolutional Recurrent Neural Network) model to perform OCR on the user’s handwritten input.
Abstract: -In digitization, most of the documents, especially the forms are filled and processed online to speed up the process. But one such organization, Indian Railways, has a process of filling out offline forms for ticket booking. This process is very time-consuming as it requires an attendee to check the form and enter the details into the database. To speed up this process, Optical Character Recognition(OCR) is a very viable option for this case. This paper presents a structured process of locating input fields on the form, scanning the input data, processing the data and entering the data to the final database. We use CRNN(Convolutional Recurrent Neural Network) model to perform OCR on the user’s handwritten input. This automated system aims at reducing the waiting time of the current system being used. TL;DR: In this paper, an attempt has been made to identify the increase in load carrying capacity under the application of point load on damaged walls after providing lamination with ferrocement.
Abstract: Ferrocement can be used as a retrofitting material due to its property of quick application on a damaged element without requirement of special bonding material with less skilled labours. The aim of this research is to provide ferrocement lamination to preexisting brick masonry structures as well as pre-damaged brick masonry structures and observe the increase in load bearing capacity of the structure. In recent years, repairs of damaged and unstrengthened members by external repair technique of bonding such as ferrocement lamination is increasing which demands needs of research work on behaviour of ferrocement confinement of column with ferrocement laminates considering the change in parameters. Brick is perhaps the oldest manmade material used in the building construction. The strength of brick masonry work depends upon the compressive strength of the bricks and mortar used. Brick masonry is primarily used as load bearing walls to carry out vertical loads. In these work, an attempt has been made to identify the increase in load carrying capacity under the application of point load on damaged walls after providing lamination with ferrocement. This paper aims to study the work carried out for strengthening of load bearing structures by ferrocement lamination on existing brick masonry as well as predamaged structures before collapse. Keywords—Ferrocemnt, lamination, retrofitting,

TL;DR: The intent of this paper is to introduce marketing managers, consultants, analysts, strategists, and researchers to an analytics application to optimize the allocation of a firm’s marketing budget in such a way that provides the maximum likelihood of generating higher ROI.
Abstract: Marketing mix modeling has existed for decades now. Everyone has been using it, some tapped its potential with enormous success while others are yet to see its true potential. Rapidly changing marketing environment, consumer dynamics and multi touch points have made it even more complex to get it right for any industry and product. The biggest challenge in the process of any marketing mix optimization is measuring real-time cross effects and cross channel impact on business. The intent of this paper is to introduce marketing managers, consultants, analysts, strategists, and researchers to an analytics application to optimize the allocation of a firm’s marketing budget in such a way that provides the maximum likelihood of generating higher ROI. MMM uses advanced econometrics and marketing science to objectively measure the relative efficacy and effectiveness of an entire set of marketing and advertising investments, competitive steal, or initiatives to produce sales and growth in both short and long term. In this paper we discuss the methodologies used to perform such analysis, how to overcome major challenges, and the benefits that can be derived from the analysis. We also discuss opportunities for improvement in media mix models that can produce agile granular measurement for better strategy.
