TL;DR: The main facets of shared information - which influence the information utilization in a supply chain - are described and elaborated and a mapping notation for how these facets can be visualized together with a supply network operations reference (SCOR) model is proposed.
Abstract: Information sharing has been extensively studied as a key enabler for coordination and integration in supply chains. However, exactly how the shared information is utilized for decision making has only received limited scientific attention in the research literature. The aim of this study is to identify the characteristics of information sharing, and conceptualize how to move from information sharing to information utilization in food supply chains. Using a case study methodology together with a review of the existing literature the authors describe the main facets of shared information - which influence the information utilization in a supply chain - and propose a mapping notation for how these facets can be visualized together with a supply chain operations reference (SCOR) model. Information utilization is especially important because more information sharing does not necessarily result in a better supply chain performance unless the shared information is effectively used in the relevant processes in the chain and well-aligned with the requirements for those processes. The proposed notation provides a systematic structure for mapping the information flows, their specific facets, and helps clarify what information is available and how this information can be utilized in different supply chain processes. Four facets of information sharing are identified and elaborated for food supply chains, together with a mapping tool that emphasizes the information flows and the utilization of information in supply chains.

TL;DR: The authors conclude that during the different market segmentations, the wholesale price and retail price go down as a retailer strengthens his bargaining power, and increasing sales volume can improve profit to make up for a loss in retail price.
Abstract: This article focuses on how the prices set by supply chains and the product greenness level changes when there exists a difference for consumers in both their greenness preference and their reservation utility for the common product with minimal greenness, based on a two-dimensional model which is built and the market is partitioned into four groups. In this study, the authors use the Stackelberg game model to analyze the decisions of a two-stage supply chain, providing environmentally friendly products affected by a consumer greenness preference which is represented by the willingness-to-pay (WTP) for product greenness. The authors found that manufacturers may lower the product greenness level with the decrease of the valuation of consumer's WTP for product greenness, but he may prefer keeping the same product greenness, he will even improve it, when there is a reduction in reservation utility for the traditional product. Moreover, this article shows that there is different impact for different combinations of both WTP for product greenness and product greenness level (different market segmentations) on price decisions of the manufacturer and retailer. In consideration of the asymmetric information about consumer's utility and willingness to pay between manufacturer and retailer, the authors introduce the bargaining power into the study, and then they conclude that during the different market segmentations, the wholesale price and retail price go down as a retailer strengthens his bargaining power, and increasing sales volume can improve profit to make up for a loss in retail price.

TL;DR: The greenhouse⻿gas-gas-emission-emissions-from-the-transportation-sector are-one-of-three-major-contributors-to-global-warming-warming-disruption-todayソ;ﻴ“greenﻷ”logistics-“ Green Vehicle Routing Problem,” and the possibility of increased emissions in the coming years.
Abstract: The greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector are one of the major contributors to global warming today. Freight share to GHG emissions is likely to increase 2-fold by 2050. This makes it critical for CO2 emissions to be reduced through an optimized transportation strategy. Vehicle routing, when done efficiently, can reduce these emissions across countries. In this attempt, the traditional distance minimization objective of the vehicle routing problem has been replaced with an energy-emission-centric objective. A model is formulated taking energy and emissions into simultaneous consideration and a typical VRP problem has been evaluated using a genetic algorithm. The application of the proposed model is observed to reduce emissions significantly compared to conventional models. Considering the possibility of increase in carbon tax in future, energy-emission minimized routing would not only aid “green logistics,” but also reduce the environmental costs incurred.

TL;DR: This article aims at identifying and analyzing influential practices for implementing sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) and determines four practices related to evaluating and collaborating suppliers and other industry peers, which occupy the highest level.
Abstract: Across different geographical and industrial boundaries, different firms are attempting to implement sustainability in their supply chain in response to pressures from different groups. This article aims at identifying and analyzing influential practices for implementing sustainable supply chain management (SSCM). By determining these practices, top management can focus on them in order to improve the performance of their supply chains. The petrochemical industry was selected because of its role in the Iranian economy and its considerable environmental and social impacts. The interpretive structural modeling (ISM) technique was used as a useful technique to identify interrelations between different sustainable practices. According to the results, set up reduction and pull production system (related to JIT practices) are driving other practices, and these practices have vital role among other practices. There are four practices related to evaluating and collaborating suppliers and other industry peers, which occupy the highest level.

TL;DR: The authors find that the proposed methods to minimise the cost of VRP give encouraging results on the basis of results on all all-in-one cases, as well as encouraging encouraging results from other cases.
Abstract: The classical Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) tries to minimise the cost of dispatching goods from depots to customers using vehicles with limited carrying capacity. As a generalisation of the TSP, the problem is known to be NP-hard and several authors have proposed heuristics and meta-heuristics for obtaining good solutions. The authors present genetic algorithm-based approaches for solving the problem and compare the results with available results from other papers, in particular, the hybrid clustering based genetic algorithm. The authors find that the proposed methods give encouraging results on all these instances. The approach can be extended to solve multi depot VRPs with heterogeneous fleet of vehicles.

TL;DR: This article presents a framework for assisting companies in deciding under what condition to centralize or decentralize their inventory to fulfill customer orders without disrupting the shopping experience.
Abstract: Omnichannel is an evolving business model that has been gaining increased popularity among retailers. This business model allows firms to use a variety of channels to interact with their customers and fulfill their orders. Customers can order online and pick up later in the store, or they can choose to have the products delivered from a nearby store. Due to the complexity of fulfilling customer orders via omnichannel models, positioning inventory is a key challenge in supporting this type of business model. This article presents a framework for assisting companies in deciding under what condition to centralize or decentralize their inventory to fulfill customer orders without disrupting the shopping experience.

TL;DR: This article analyzed theinfluence of the manufacturerurer-leading supply chain system, game theory, Service Cost, Supply Chain Management, and KEyWoRDS Extend Warranty Service, Game Theory, Service cost, supply Chain Management.
Abstract: This article constructed a manufacturer-leading supply chain system considering the extended warranty service (EW) with a single manufacturer and a single retailer to study the influence of service cost on the choice of the EW provider. First, this article analyzed retail pricing, EW pricing, EW quality, the manufacturer's profit, the retail's profit and the total system profit in Model M and Model R. Then, the article analyzed the influence of service cost on the choice of the EW provider. Finally, it shows that if only part of consumers purchases the product with the EW, the manufacturer benefits from EW provided by the retailer. However, the retailer has to balance the ratio of the service cost coefficient. Furthermore, all consumers purchase the product with the EW, both the manufacturer and the retailer has to balance the ratio of service cost coefficient between manufacturer and retailer.

TL;DR: The results show that the revenue and cost-sharing contract can coordinate supply chain under customer balking and price-dependent demand and achieve the Pareto-improvement.
Abstract: In order to investigate supply chain coordination and decision under customer balking and stochastic demand, the article considers a two-echelon supply chain consisting of one manufacturer with risk-neutral and one retailer with risk-neutral and develops two models in a centralized and a decentralized system and the three contracts are designed to coordinate supply chain and the optimal price and customer balking strategies are obtained. The results show that the revenue and cost-sharing contract can coordinate supply chain under customer balking and price-dependent demand and achieve the Pareto-improvement; the expected sales quantity and expected reduced sales quantity are influenced conversely by the threshold of inventory and probability of a sale under customer balking. In addition, numerical analysis is given to verify the effectiveness of revenue and cost-sharing contract and the paper gives some managerial insights and puts forward to the future work at last.

TL;DR: The authors investigate a hybrid problem in which the firm needs to develop a suitable distribution strategy under disruption risks along with an optimal checking policy when faced with the supply of varying quantities of damaged items.
Abstract: This article considers transportation disruptions and its detrimental impact on the quality of the enroute shipment. The authors consider a supply chain system of a short life cycle product that has a capacitated supplier, a retailer and multiple routes of transportation under different disruption risks, uncertain cost of transportation, and uncertain demands. The authors investigate a hybrid problem in which the firm needs to develop a suitable distribution strategy under disruption risks along with an optimal checking policy when faced with the supply of varying quantities of damaged items. The authors formulate a non-linear mathematical model in which the overall objective is to maximise the expected profit and to help the firm in decision making under uncertain environments. Lastly, a statistical study is carried out to perform uncertainty analysis.

TL;DR: This article suggests that the “uncertainty” condition should be used in supplier selection as it corresponds to real-life more than the certainty or risk condition.
Abstract: Supplier selection is one of the critical decision-making problems in supply chain management. The purpose of this research is to investigate the process that is commonly used for calculating a “score” for each supplier when certain attributes are used. In decision making theory, the selection of “best” alternative can be done under three different conditions: certainty, risk, and uncertainty. Most of the current research uses “certainty” conditions. This article suggests that the “uncertainty” condition should be used in supplier selection as it corresponds to real-life more than the certainty or risk condition. “Maximum entropy” method is used to ascertain the probability function of the outcomes. Once the probability functions are known, means and variance can be calculated, and the suppliers can be evaluated.

TL;DR: The need and the benefits of data unconstraining are demonstrated and a data unconStraining method is developed to address the dual issues of estimation of demand and substitution rates when there are unobserved substitutions among choice alternatives.
Abstract: Product stock-outs and the resultant purchase of substitutes by customer is common in retail. These stock-out lead to censored sales data; the observed demand for products with stock-outs could be lower that the true demand for the same while the observed demand for the substitutes could be inflated. If historical sales data is used to forecast future demand for a product without accounting for stock-outs, it could lead to errors in demand forecasting on account of misspecification. In this paper, we demonstrate the need and the benefits of data unconstraining and develop a data unconstraining method to address the dual issues of estimation of demand and substitution rates when there are unobserved substitutions among choice alternatives. We compare the effectiveness of the proposed technique by comparing it against the popular techniques available in extant literature.

TL;DR: The authors find that the non-contract decentralized mode model cannot successfully coordinate the supply chain, while the buyback contract mode allows for the coordination of the supply network and the generation of more profit from the supplychain.
Abstract: Nowadays, the members in a supply chain are seen as an integrity. In order to maximize the supply chain profit, the authors consider a contract of buyback. In this article, they focus on a single manufacturer and a single retailer in the supply chain. In order to match the market demand, a new perspective is introduced into the buyback contract model. By comparing the predicted demand of the manufacturer and the retailer with the real demand, they will obtain four quadrants about the difference of the market demand forecasts. By combining the profit models with different market demand forecasts in the four quadrants, the closed-form optimal market model is created. The solutions of the optimal price and the optimal quantity under the centralized mode, non-contract decentralized mode and buyback contract mode are compared. The authors find that the non-contract decentralized mode model cannot successfully coordinate the supply chain, while the buyback contract mode allows for the coordination of the supply chain and the generation of more profit from the supply chain. From this new perspective of the supply chain contract, a reasonable result can be obtained. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the results, with analysis conducted on the model.

TL;DR: In previous studies, manyソresearchers have achieved significant success and achievedsignificant success in reducing the negative effects of Bullwhip Effect Control.
Abstract: In previous studies, many researchers have achieved significant success in reducing the negative effects brought about by the bullwhip effect. In this article, the authors have established a supply chain that consists of one supplier and two retailers and has adopted a Cournot-Bertrand mixed duopoly model that successfully combines a nonlinear complexity dynamic system with the bullwhip effect. In order to partition systems with various degrees of disorder and take appropriate methods to refrain systems from falling into a chaos state, numerical simulation methods are conducted to find the stability range, bifurcation range and the chaos range. This article focuses on three different ranges that the authors analyze about the bullwhip effect and inventory variability. In the end, some practical suggestions on behavioral science management are made.
