Mechanical Characterization of Sol–Gel‐Derived Silicon Oxycarbide Glasses
TL;DR: In this paper, the elastic modulus (E), flexural strength (MOR), and Vickers hardness (H v ) increase with the amount of carbon in the oxycarbide glasses reaching the maximum values (E≃115 GPa, MOR≃550 MPa, and H v ≃9 GPa).

Microstructural and morphological characteristics of PS-SiO2 nanocomposites
TL;DR: In this paper, a series of organic-inorganic hybrid materials have been prepared by copolymerizing styrene and alkoxysilane-methacrylate via the sol-gel process.

Structure of a PDMS Layer Grafted onto a Silica Surface Studied by Means of DSC and Solid-State NMR
TL;DR: In this paper, the structure of poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) layer at the surface of hydrophilic silica has been studied by means of DSC, proton NMR T2 relaxation experiments, and 1H and 29Si NMR spectroscopy.

29Si-NMR study of hydrolysis and initial polycondensation processes of organoalkoxysilanes. II. Methyltriethoxysilane
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the hydrolysis and initial polycondensation processes of methyltriethoxysilane (MTES) by high-resolution 29Si-nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (29Si-NMR).
Journal ArticleDOI
Physical basis for the formation and stability of silica nanoparticles in basic solutions of monovalent cations.
TL;DR: It is shown that a condensation model that is based on silica solubility can describe the phase diagram for nanoparticle formation and that there is a minimum in the free energy of condensation as a function of size that qualitatively explains why the formation of small particles with a uniform size is energetically favorable.

Zur Interpretation 29Si-NMR-chemischer Verschiebungen
TL;DR: In this article, the 29Si-NMR chemical shifts δ(29Si) of (CH3)4−nSiXn compounds are discussed by means of relative paramagnetic screening constants σ*, calculated by a simplified model, in which only the Si(3P)-and C(2P)-orbitals are considered.
