The system detects the congestion with the help of optical flow and the standard deviation and gives warning when the congestion is detected and will help to overcome such situation.
Abstract
Now a day, the mass events like political rallies, musical concerts, sports matches, school gathering and pilgrimage become an issue of the public security. In the past the research is based on the detection of the human behaviour and for finding the hazardous location. Crowd is a collection or gathering of many people in the same area at the same time. In such situation the density of people is high and this may causes the disaster. The proposed system will help to overcome such situation. The system detects the congestion with the help of optical flow and the standard deviation and gives warning when the congestion is detected.

Determining optical flow

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for finding the optical flow pattern is presented which assumes that the apparent velocity of the brightness pattern varies smoothly almost everywhere in the image, and an iterative implementation is shown which successfully computes the Optical Flow for a number of synthetic image sequences.

A survey on visual surveillance of object motion and behaviors

TL;DR: This paper reviews recent developments and general strategies of the processing framework of visual surveillance in dynamic scenes, and analyzes possible research directions, e.g., occlusion handling, a combination of two and three-dimensional tracking, and fusion of information from multiple sensors, and remote surveillance.

Vision-Based Analysis of Small Groups in Pedestrian Crowds

TL;DR: This work automatically detects small groups of individuals who are traveling together by bottom-up hierarchical clustering using a generalized, symmetric Hausdorff distance defined with respect to pairwise proximity and velocity.

Optical Flow Based Moving Object Detection and Tracking for Traffic Surveillance

TL;DR: The moving detection and tracking system is developed based on optical flow estimation together with application and combination of various relevant computer vision and image processing techniques to enhance the process.
