Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of Steel Grade on Surface Cooling Rates and Heat Flux during Quenching
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed equipment that can be used for obtaining cooling curves for a specific steel/quenchant combination with nonlinear transient inverse heat transfer with phase transformation, resulting in cooling curves specific to the steel grade-quench combination.
Book ChapterDOI
Ultra-high Strength Steel Treated by Using Quenching–Partitioning–Tempering Process
T. Y. Hsu,Xuejun Jin +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a quenching-partitioning-tempering (Q-P-T) process is developed to yield ultra-high strength and high toughness steel based on Q-P process suggested by Speer et al.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison Between Two SMA Constitutive Models for Seismic Applications
TL;DR: In this article, the dynamic behavior of shape memory alloy (SMA) systems is analyzed and compared based on two different constitutive models: temperature and rate independent, and a balance equation considering the thermal effects.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quenching and partitioning (Q&P) processed medium Mn steel starting from heterogeneous microstructure
TL;DR: In this article, the microstructure and tensile properties of the quenching and partitioning (QP) process were examined, where a major fraction of austenite exists as Mn-rich islands surrounded by martensite.
Journal ArticleDOI
Niobium-containing quenching and partitioning processed ultrahigh strength martensite–austenite dual phase steels
TL;DR: In this article, a study concerning niobium bearing steel with medium carbon content is presented, showing that the quenching and partitioning process leads to an extremely high product of tensile strength and percentage elongation approaching 38 GPa% The contribution is a cumulative effect of martensite with tempered randomly oriented laths, small fraction of lower bainite, and a high fraction of retained austenite.
