TLDR
In this article, it is shown that many particular choices among possible neurophysiological assumptions are equivalent, in the sense that for every net behaving under one assumption, there exists another net which behaves under another and gives the same results, although perhaps not in the same time.

Unsupervised learning of invariant representations

TL;DR: The theory offers novel unsupervised learning algorithms for "deep" architectures for image and speech recognition, and conjecture that the main computational goal of the ventral stream of visual cortex is to provide a hierarchical representation of new objects/images which is invariant to transformations, stable, and selective for recognition.

A simple neural network model for the determination of aquifer parameters

TL;DR: A simple artificial neural network model is developed for the determination of non-leaky confined aquifer parameters by normalizing and applying the principal component analysis (PCA) on adopted training data pattern from Lin and Chen.

Designing phononic crystal with anticipated band gap through a deep learning based data-driven method

TL;DR: A data-driven approach by image-based finite element analysis and deep learning is proposed in this study for designing phononic crystals with anticipated band gaps, which could be further extended to design various structured mechanical materials with specific functionalities.

The Logical Syntax of Language

Rudolf Carnap
TL;DR: Carnap's entire theory of language structure appeared in The Logical Syntax of Language (1934) as mentioned in this paper, which led to his famous "Principle of tolerance" by which everyone is free to mix and match the rules of his logic in any way he wishes.
