TLDR
A new metric which is close to the Euclidean distance and also computationally more efficient is proposed which is helpful when the dimension of the data set is large and shown on a randomly generated data set in the context of clustering.

Adaptive fuzzy systems for multichannel signal processing

TL;DR: A general formulation based on fuzzy concepts is presented, which allows the use of adaptive weights in the filtering structure, and the strong potential of fuzzy adaptive filters for multichannel signal applications, such as color image processing, is illustrated with several examples.

Semi-Automated Road Detection From High Resolution Satellite Images by Directional Morphological Enhancement and Segmentation Techniques

TL;DR: This work presents a semi-automatic approach for road detection that achieves high accuracy and efficiency and exploits the properties of road segments to develop customized operators to accurately derive the road segments.

On-line pattern analysis by evolving self-organizing maps

TL;DR: An algorithm of evolving self-organizing map (ESOM), which features an evolving network structure and fast on-line learning, is presented, which is a promising computational model for on- line pattern analysis in real world problems.

Location of mobile terminals using time measurements and survey points

TL;DR: The paper introduces the use of nonparametric kernel-based estimators for location of mobile terminals using measurements of propagation delays and demonstrates the robustness of the estimators when the values of the parameters vary from the optimal points.

Bidirectional PCA with assembled matrix distance metric for image recognition

TL;DR: BD-PCA supplemented with an assembled matrix distance (AMD) metric is proposed, which can be used for image feature extraction by reducing the dimensionality in both column and row directions.

Probability and Measure

TL;DR: In this paper, the convergence of distributions is considered in the context of conditional probability, i.e., random variables and expected values, and the probability of a given distribution converging to a certain value.

Remote Sensing Digital Image Analysis: An Introduction

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an introduction to quantitative evaluation of satellite and aircraft derived from remotely retrieved data, without detailed mathematical treatment of computer based algorithms, but in a manner conductive to an understanding of their capabilities and limitations.

Graph-Theoretical Methods for Detecting and Describing Gestalt Clusters

TL;DR: A family of graph-theoretical algorithms based on the minimal spanning tree are capable of detecting several kinds of cluster structure in arbitrary point sets; description of the detected clusters is possible in some cases by extensions of the method.
