Microstructure evolution in tungsten during low-energy helium ion irradiation

TL;DR: In this article, the microstructural changes in tungsten during low-energy He+ ion irradiations in an electron microscope linked with an ion accelerator were investigated in an in situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) study.

Formation of helium induced nanostructure ‘fuzz’ on various tungsten grades

TL;DR: In this paper, the response of a variety of W material grades to nanostructure formation is explored, and the variability of ‘fuzz’ growth is examined at 1120k for 1-h durations: SR, SC and doped W grades.
Journal ArticleDOI

The density and pressure of helium in bubbles in implanted metals: A critical review

TL;DR: A review of experiments and calculations which have yielded information on the state of helium in small bubbles in implanted metals is presented in this paper, where a short review of research on high pressure helium is also presented in order to establish an equation of state relevant to small room temperature helium bubbles.

Data Compendium for Plasma-Surface Interactions

TL;DR: A review of particle-solid processes pertinent to modeling plasma-wall interactions is presented in this paper, and sets of recommended data are given, where analytic formulas are used where possible; otherwise, data are presented in the form of tables and graphs.
Journal ArticleDOI

He ion irradiation damage in Fe/W nanolayer films

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors report on the evolution of microstructure and mechanical properties of Fe/W multilayers subjected to helium ion irradiations and show that the magnitude of hardness variation after radiation depends on the individual layer thickness.

Point Defects in Metals

TL;DR: In this article, the fraction of atom sites that are vacant for lead at its melting temperature of 327°C (600 K) is computed. But the fraction is not fixed.

The interaction of injected helium with lattice defects in a tungsten crystal.

TL;DR: In this article, the lattice damage produced near a (100) tungsten surface by the impact of small numbers of 5 keV heavy ions was investigated and it was shown that all of the entrapment occurs at defects of the vacancy type.

The influence of helium on the high temperature mechanical properties of an austenitic stainless steel

TL;DR: In this article, D1N 14970 austenitic stainless steel was cyclotron implanted to uniform helium concentrations up to 150 ppm and tensile and creep tests at different stress levels and temperatures between 600 and 800°C were performed and compared with the results from He-free control specimens.

Attachment of mobile particles to non-saturable traps

TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the thermal desorption spectra for helium attached to xenon atoms in a tungsten crystal and found that the binding energy of the helium was found to increase monotonically with the number of helium atoms occupying the trap.
