Abstract
Based on the coupled wave theory, the TE01-HE11 mode conversion system has been designed and tested. The system is done in three steps. First, a smooth wall gradual TE01 mode bend with an arc radius 550-mm long is designed to satisfy the demands of the system. Second, a 595-mm-long waveguide converts TE01 mode to TM11 mode. Third, a 415.5-mm-long corrugated circular waveguide is designed to excite HE11 mode. The above designs are all verified by Commercial Microwave Studio CST Software. The calculation shows that the transmission efficiency of the whole system is over 95 % at the frequency of 35 GHz. The calculations, the simulations, and the test results are in well agreement.

A Gaussian-Like Beam Output System for High-Power Ka-Band Gyro-TWT

TL;DR: In this paper, an output system, consisting of a waveguide taper, a 90° waveguide bend, a corrugated waveguide horn, and an RF output window, which can output a Gaussian-like beam rather than a circular waveguide TE0, 1 mode in a broadband for a Ka-band gyrotron traveling-wave tube (gyro-TWT) has been developed and tested.

Mode converters for generating the HE 11 (gaussian like) mode from TE 01 in a circular waveguide

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported measurements on mode converters to transform the TE01 mode into HE11 for electron cyclotron heating (ECH) experiments, and the overall efficiency of conversion from TE01 to HE11 exceeds 91% over a measured range of 59.2 to 60.1 GHz.

High power mode conversion for linearly polarized HE11 hybrid mode output

TL;DR: In this paper, a quasi-optical hybrid mode can be generated from TE 0n gyrotron mode compositions by the two multi-step mode conversion processes: (1) TE0n to TE01 to TE11 to HE11 or (2) ΣTE 0n toTE01 to TM 11 to HE 11).

Mode conversion due to curvature in corrugated waveguides

TL;DR: In this article, the curvature coupling coefficients in corrugated circular waveguides are examined in detail, starting from Maxwell's equations, and a strict derivation is given for the curvatures coupling coefficients formulae.
