A review on phase change materials integrated in building walls

TL;DR: In this article, a comprehensive review of the integration of phase change materials in building walls is presented. But, even if the integrated phase change material have a good potential for reducing energy demand, further investigations are needed to really assess their use.
Journal ArticleDOI

Continuum model for simultaneous chemical reactions and mass transport in hydrothermal systems

TL;DR: In this paper, a time-space continuum model for transport of hydrothermal fluids in porous media is presented which provides for simultaneous, reversible and irreversible chemical reactions involving liquids, gases and minerals.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mathematical modelling of solidification and melting: a review

TL;DR: The major methods of mathematical modelling of solidification and melting problems are reviewed in this article, where basic guidelines are outlined to choose a correct mathematical formulation for solving solidification or melting problems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Heat transfer enhancement of phase change materials for thermal energy storage applications: A critical review

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a review on various techniques of heat transfer enhancement in latent heat thermal energy storage (LHTES) systems, which can be achieved through either geometric configuration and/or thermal conductivity enhancement.
Journal ArticleDOI

Numerical and experimental study on the solidification of PCM around a vertical axially finned isothermal cylinder

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented the results of a numerical and experimental investigation realized on finned tubes with the objective of using them in thermal storage systems, based upon the pure conduction mechanism of heat transfer, the enthalpy formulation approach and the control volume method.

Efficient numerical technique for one-dimensional thermal problems with phase change

TL;DR: A new numerical scheme for one-dimensional heat flow problems with phase change, which continuously monitors the progression of the phase interface, is unusual for the high accuracy achieved without sacrifice to computing efficiency.
