In this article, the authors apply the material developed in the Volume One to various boundary value problems (reflection and refraction at plane surfaces, composite media, waveguides and resonators).
Abstract
This work, part of a two-volume set, applies the material developed in the Volume One to various boundary value problems (reflection and refraction at plane surfaces, composite media, waveguides and resonators). The text also covers topics such as perturbation and variational methods.

Review of nonlinear ultrasonic guided wave nondestructive evaluation: theory, numerics, and experiments

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors review the recent advances in the theory of nonlinear guided waves, as well as the numerical simulations and experiments that demonstrate their utility, including the application of higher harmonic generation of ultrasonic guided wave modes for nondestructive evaluation.
Journal ArticleDOI

On selection of primary modes for generation of strong internally resonant second harmonics in plate

TL;DR: In this article, the selection of primary shear-horizontal (SH) and Rayleigh-Lamb (RL) ultrasonic wave modes that generate cumulative second harmonics in homogeneous isotropic plates is analyzed by theoretical modeling.
Book ChapterDOI

Surface Acoustic Waves

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that a semi-infinite, isotropic, elastic medium, bounded by a single, stress-free, planar surface, can support surface vibration modes that are wavelike in directions parallel to the surface of the solid, but whose amplitudes decay exponentially with increasing distance into the solid from the surface, with a decay length that is of the order of the wavelength of the wave along the surface.

Lamb Wave-Mode Tuning of Piezoelectric Wafer Active Sensors for Structural Health

TL;DR: In this paper, an analytical and experimental investigation of the Lamb wave-mode tuning with piezo-electric wafer active sensors (PWASs) is presented, in which an analytical solution using the space-wise Fourier transform is reviewed, and closed-form solutions are presented for the case of ideal bonding (i.e., load transfer mechanism localized at the PWAS boundary).

Physical properties of crystals

John F. Nye
TL;DR: In this paper, the physical properties of crystals systematically in tensor notation are presented, presenting tensor properties in terms of their common mathematical basis and the thermodynamic relations between them.

Field theory of guided waves

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a model for waveguide decomposition in terms of waveguide discontinuities and waveguides and cavities, and apply it to artificial dielectrics.
