TLDR
The computationally efficient adaptive neighborhood extended contrast enhancement procedure is proposed, which achieves significant computational speedup without much loss of image quality and can be well applied to other contrast enhancement algorithms for improvement of the quality of the enhanced image.

A simple and effective histogram equalization approach to image enhancement

TL;DR: The multi-peak generalized histogram equalization (multi-peak GHE) is proposed, which is improved by using multi- peak histogramequalization combined with local information to enhance the images effectively.

A multiscale morphological approach to local contrast enhancement

TL;DR: The conventional theoretical concept of local Contrast enhancement has been extended in the regime of mathematical morphology and the intensity values of the scale-specific features of the image extracted using multiscale tophat transformation are modified for achieving local contrast enhancement.

An Optimal Fuzzy System for Color Image Enhancement

TL;DR: A Gaussian membership function is proposed to fuzzify the image information in spatial domain and a visible improvement in the image quality is observed for under exposed images, as the entropy of the output image is decreased.

Color image enhancement by fuzzy intensification

TL;DR: A Gaussian membership function to model image information in spatial domain and a visible improvement in the image quality for human contrast perception is observed by the reduction in 'index of fuzziness' and 'entropy' of the output image.

Multiscale adaptive gain control of IR images

TL;DR: The possibility to represent more information by using local adaptive techniques based upon methods found in literature, a new multi-scale method is presented.
