Safety evaluation of topical applications of ethanol on the skin and inside the oral cavity.

TL;DR: As there might be industry bias in many studies about the safety of topical ethanol applications, as well as a general lack of scientific research on the long-term effects, there is a requirement for independent studies on this topic.
Journal ArticleDOI

Exposure to urban pollutants and serum levels of IgG anti Herpes Simplex virus type 1.

TL;DR: The authors hypothesise an effect of the working activity in traffic policemen on serum levels of IgG Ab against HSV-1 compared to controls, which is likely to affect levels of immunoglobulins G antibodies against Herpes Simplex Virus.
Journal ArticleDOI

Holistic dermatology: An evidence-based review of modifiable lifestyle factor associations with dermatologic disorders.

TL;DR: Modifiable life factors explored in this review play a critical role in modulating the onset and progression of skin disease and an increasing integration of holistic dermatology into patient care is anticipated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Holistic dermatology: An evidence-based review of modifiable lifestyle factor associations with dermatologic disorders

TL;DR: A systematic literature search on PubMed, Cochrane, and Web of Science was conducted to identify research articles examining the relationship between dermatology and 6 major categories of modifiable lifestyle factors: diet, sleep, exercise, stress, alcohol, and smoking as mentioned in this paper .

Alcohol and Immune Defense

Rob Roy MacGregor
- 19 Sep 1986 -
TL;DR: The impact on health includes increased morbidity from cirrhosis, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, trauma, cancer, and infection, and factors that contribute to the high incidence of infection among alcoholics include dulled mental function, breakdown of local protective barriers, aspiration, exposure, and malnutrition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Alcohol and Various Diseases on Leukocyte Mobilization, Phagocytosis and Intracellular Bacterial Killing

TL;DR: Ethyl alcohol produced a profound depression in the rate of leukocyte mobilization into traumatized skin of nutritionally normal people, and was comparable to that observed in terminal phases of medical shock.

The immunology of psoriasis.

TL;DR: Famiiy studies of four generations strongly support the concept of Mendelian dominance with incomplete penetration, and inheritance in psoriasis appears multifactorial with the involvement of several genes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Immunologic mechanisms in psoriasis

TL;DR: It is proposed that HLA-DR + keratinocytes and Langerhans cells in plaques could activate dermal T cells directly in an autologous mixed leucocyte/epithelial cell reaction, which would lead to the release of mediators of inflammation, and possibly of epidermal growth factors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Alcohol and the immune system.

TL;DR: In the long term it is hoped that meningococcal disease will be controlled by developing vaccines that give prolonged protection against all groups of meningitis, and the first field trials ofgroup B vaccines are in progress in Chile and Cuba.
