Baryon Acoustic Oscillation Intensity Mapping of Dark Energy

TLDR
Here it is shown how the study of acoustic oscillation in the 21 cm brightness can be accomplished by economical three-dimensional intensity mapping, and may be the starting point for a new class of dark energy experiments dedicated to large angular scale mapping of the radio sky, shedding light on dark energy.
Abstract
The expansion of the universe appears to be accelerating, and the mysterious anti-gravity agent of this acceleration has been called ``dark energy''. To measure the dynamics of dark energy, Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO) can be used. Previous discussions of the BAO dark energy test have focused on direct measurements of redshifts of as many as $10^9$ individual galaxies, by observing the 21cm line or by detecting optical emission. Here we show how the study of acoustic oscillation in the 21 cm brightness can be accomplished by economical three dimensional intensity mapping. If our estimates gain acceptance they may be the starting point for a new class of dark energy experiments dedicated to large angular scale mapping of the radio sky, shedding light on dark energy.

Standard Ruler at Cosmic Dawn

TL;DR: It is found that three years of 21-cm power-spectrum data from the upcoming HERA interferometer should be able to measure the Hubble expansion rate H(z) at z=15-20 to percent-level precision, ranging from 0.3% to 11% depending on the strength of astrophysical feedback processes and foregrounds.

The foreground wedge and 21-cm BAO surveys

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of the contaminated wedge on the future 21 cm Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO) surveys using Fisher information matrix calculation was investigated. And the authors concluded that calibration techniques that clean out the foreground “wedge” would be extremely valuable for constraining angular diameter distances from intensity-mapping 21 cm surveys.

The 21 cm signal and the interplay between dark matter annihilations and astrophysical processes

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors use up-to-date computations of the energy deposition rates by the products from DM annihilations, a proper treatment of the contribution from DM annihilation in halos, as well as values of the annihilation cross section allowed by the most recent cosmological measurements from the Planck satellite.

How to evade the sample variance limit on measurements of redshift-space distortions

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used multiple tracers of large-scale density with different biases to measure the redshift-space distortion parameter β ≡ b −1f ≡ b−1d−ln D/d −ln a (where D is the growth factor and a the expansion factor).
