Journal ArticleDOI
Dietary lipid, fatty acid oxidation and incorporation of carbon into cholesterol.
TL;DR: Dietary fat affects rate of oxidation of uniformly labeled palmitate and oleate, but not linoleate, and acetate is a more ready precursor to cholesterol than is fatty acid carbon, which opens the question of compartmentation of acetate as to its metabolic source.

In vitro hepatic cholesterogenesis in rats fed corn oil and fat-free diets.
Peter O. Egwim,Fred A. Kummerow +1 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that the observed enhancement of cholesterogenesis in linoleate-rich livers may be basically related to possible fatty acid compositional changes in the phospholipid moieties of the lipoprotein components of the key enzymes, and of the Sterol Carrier Protein, involved in cholesterol synthesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ultrastructural and Immunohistochemical Changes of Rat Brain after Long-Term Marijuana Inhalation
Satoshi Kubota,Yuko T. Iwata,Hideaki Matsuda,Kazuhiko Imaizumi,Sachio Miyasaka,Mineo Yoshino +5 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest that the neurons in the NRD that is the original nucleus of the serotonergic nerve system have become functionally hyperactive by Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol, but it may induce the dysfunction of serotonin transmission from theOriginal nucleus.

Journal ArticleDOI
Thin layer chromatography of weakly polar steroids
TL;DR: In this article, neutral fractions of oxidation products from side chain degradations of cholesteryl acetate were separated into more than twenty constituents and some of these could be determinated semi-quantitatively.
