Journal ArticleDOI

Cigarette Smoking and Incidence of Multiple Sclerosis

TL;DR: Although these prospective results do not prove a cause-and-effect relation, they suggest that smoking is associated with an increased risk of MS.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cassava cyanogens and konzo, an upper motoneuron disease found in Africa.

TL;DR: Findings indicate a causal role in konzo of sustained high blood cyanide concentrations maintained by a deficient sulphur intake impairing cyanide to thiocyanate conversion, but a minor improvement of food processing may, as in beri-beri, be preventive.
Journal ArticleDOI

The need for adequate processing to reduce the anti-nutritional factors inplants used as human foods and animal feeds: A review

TL;DR: The aim of this review is to emphasize on the adequate processing of foods/feeds and to educate the people on the dangers of consuming improperly processed foods especially legumes which are reported to contain very high concentrations of anti-nutritional factors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Alzheimer's disease, parkinson's disease, and motoneurone disease: abiotropic interaction between ageing and environment?

TL;DR: The hypothesis is that Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease (PD), and motoneurone disease are due to environmental damage to specific regions of the central nervous system and that the damage remains subclinical for several decades but makes those affected especially prone to the consequences of age-related neuronal attrition.
