TLDR
In this paper, a record of continental pluvial periods over the last 330,000 yr was provided by speleothems from Hoti Cave in northern Oman, where the authors measured the δD values of water extracted from speleothem fluid inclusions (δDFI) and calculated δ18O values of calcite calcite.

Holocene ITCZ and Indian monsoon dynamics recorded in stalagmites from Oman and Yemen (Socotra)

TL;DR: In this article, high-resolution oxygen isotope (δ18O) profiles of Holocene stalagmites from four caves in Northern and Southern Oman and Yemen (Socotra) provide detailed information on fluctuations in precipitation along a latitudinal transect from 12°N to 23°N.

Modification and preservation of environmental signals in speleothems

TL;DR: In this article, the use of multiple proxies and improving understanding of formation mechanisms offers a clear way forward, but the climatological meaning of many speleothem records cannot be interpreted unequivocally; this is particularly so for more subtle shifts and shorter time periods.

Speleothem calcite farmed in situ: Modern calibration of δ18O and δ13C paleoclimate proxies in a continuously-monitored natural cave system

TL;DR: In this paper, a relationship between speleothem stable isotopes (δ 13 C δ 18 O) and in situ cave forcing mechanisms is found. But the relationship between calcite and cave air ventilation was not investigated.

Paleoclimate and location of the border between Mediterranean climate region and the Saharo–Arabian Desert as revealed by speleothems from the northern Negev Desert, Israel

TL;DR: In this article, major periods of speleothem deposition (representing humid periods) were determined by high resolution 230 Th-U dating and corresponding studies of stableisotopecomposition were used to identify the source ofrainfallduringhumidperiodsandthevegetation type.

TL;DR: In this article, changes in solar radiation arising from changes in the orientation of the earth's axis had pronounced effects on tropical monsoons and mid-latitude climates as well as on ice-sheet configuration.

Hydrological changes in the African tropics since the Last Glacial Maximum

TL;DR: Paleohydrological data from the African tropics and subtropics, including lake, groundwater and speleothem records, are reviewed to show how environments and climates from both hemispheres are inter-related.
