Confined soliton pairs (bipolarons) in polythiophene: In-situ magnetic resonance measurements

TLDR
In this article, electron spin resonance measurements carried out on thin films of polythiophene in situ during electrochemical doping with ClO4 were used to demonstrate the spinless character of the doping induced charge states at dilute to intermediate doping concentrations.

Impact of the Doping Method on Conductivity and Thermopower in Semiconducting Polythiophenes

TL;DR: In this paper, two fundamentally different doping mechanisms are used to investigate the thermoelectric properties of known high hole mobility polymers: poly 3-hexylthiophene (P3HT), poly(2,5-bis(3-tetradecylthiophen-2-yl)thieno[3,2-b] thiophene) (PBTTT-C14), and poly(1.7-diheptadecantyltetrathienoacene)) (P2TDC17-FT4).

Electronic absorption and vibrational spectroscopies of conjugated conducting polymers

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that polarons are the major species generated by doping in most non-degenerate conjugated polymers such as polythiophene, poly(p-phenylene), and poly(polyphenylenevinylene).

Self-doped conducting polymers

TL;DR: The first known examples of water-soluble conducting polymers are poly-3-(2-ethaneulfonate)thiophene and poly-4-butanesulfonates (3-3-butane) thiophene.

Localization and its absence: a new metallic state for conducting polymers.

TL;DR: Calculated states of the random dimer model for polyaniline are coincident with recent calculations of the location of the Fermi level in the metallic regime, and the implications for the metallic state in other polymers, including heavily doped polyacetylene, are discussed.

Three-Step Redox in Polythiophenes: Evidence from Electrochemistry at an Ultramicroelectrode

TL;DR: In this article, the transition between polaron, bipolaron, and metallic states of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) was detected using in situ UV−VIS−NIR spectroscopy.

Charge storage in doped poly(thiophene): Optical and electrochemical studies

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a new method of electrochemical polymerization of poly(thiophene) using dithiophene as the starting material, from which they obtain a high-quality film with a sharp interband absorption edge.

Comparative theoretical study of the doping of conjugated polymers: Polarons in polyacetylene and polyparaphenylene

TL;DR: In this article, the physicochemical properties of all-trans polyacetylene and polyparaphenylene have been investigated in the framework of the adiabatic H\"uckel Hamiltonian with $\ensuremath{sigma}$-bond compressibility.

Optical absorption from polarons in a model of polyacetylene

TL;DR: In this paper, the optical absorption due to polarons in polyacetylene has been investigated and the existence of three separate absorption peaks in the gap with qualitatively different features has been established.

Electron-spin-resonance studies of pyrrole polymers: Evidence for bipolarons

TL;DR: In this paper, it was deduced that the ESR signal seen in the as-prepared material does not arise from the current-carrying species, but rather from accidental neutral ''ensuremath{\pi}$-radical defects''.
