Conjugate mixed convection heat transfer from a vertical rectangular fin

TLDR
In this article, a numerical investigation of the heat transfer from a rectangular fin by combined forced and natural convection is presented, and the results are compared with the conventional fin theory and it is found that concerning the fin efficiency, the latter produces acceptable results although it is not strictly correct.

Conjugate heat transfer of mixed convection for viscoelastic fluid past a horizontal flat-plate fin

TL;DR: In this article, a conjugate mixed convection heat transfer problem of a second-grade viscoelastic fluid past a horizontal flat-plate fin has been studied, where the governing equations include heat conduction equation of the fin, and continuity equation, momentum equation and energy equation of fluid, have been analyzed by a combination of a series expansion method, the similarity transformation and a second order accurate finite difference method.

The effect of prandtl number on conjugate heat transfer from rectangular fins

TL;DR: In this paper, the problem of conjugate heat transfer from rectangular fin is treated numerically and the results indicated great effects of both CCP and Pr. Comparisons with the simple conventional fin theory show that concerning the fin efficiency, the simple theory yields acceptable results while the temperature variation and local heat flux distributions are not correctly predicted.

Conjugated, mixed convection-conduction heat transfer along a cylindrical fin in a porous medium

TL;DR: In this paper, the problem of mixed convection flow about a vertical, cylindrical fin embedded in a porous medium is studied analytically based on the conjugate convection-conduction theory.
Journal ArticleDOI

Conjugate mixed convection heat transfer analysis of a plate fin embedded in a porous medium

TL;DR: In this article, the problem of mixed convection flow about a vertical plate fin embedded in a porous medium, taking into consideration the interaction between conduction in the fin and convection in the surrounding fluid, has been analyzed.

Extended surface heat transfer

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an algorithm for Finned Array Assembly, which is based on linear transformations with simplified constraints and convection coefficients with real constraints, and they show that it achieves the optimum design of Radiating and Convecting-Radiating Fins.
